BI Data Processing and Discovery tool that has become essential in my everyday work

  • March 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use
Ability to process and present huge volumes of data
Advanced data visualization tools
Very helpful and active community - tons of plug ins, enhancements
In active development, frequent updates that add essential improvements.
Free to use even for commercial (albeit internal) use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Takes a little bit of using to a different way of working with the underlying data - slightly different than spreadsheets "in your face" data.

Lacks the ability to stop the data processing and then apply some filters. When you have a huge set of data and a visualization that shows it all takes to long to process you hit the abort button. But this applies to your ability to filter the data as well. So you can't pick a smaller sample and then run the data processing.

The debug messages when importing the data through the load script are often not very helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast processing of data volumes that far exceed the theoretical and practical applications of traditional spreadsheets.
Filtering that applies to all of the visualisations (unless you specify otherwise)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try - the desktop version is free to use even for commercial (internal) use. This software may seem to be a little bit daunting at first but you can get used to it quickly. There is a ton of help online.

Surprisingly easy

  • January 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It was surprisingly easy to create a first dashboards. I had doubts first how Self Service should work for colleagues who don´t have the knowledge of creating formulas by themselves. When I found out about the Qlik Sense Libary everything became clear so that we would really like to proceed with this tool after having used Qlik View for some years. I line very much the new visualizations. Especially the KPI object and the possibility to integrate maps into the application is very helpful. Further to mention is the possibility to integrate external data via the Qlik Data Market which can really lead to new insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I would dislike. Qlik Sense is a completely new front end package and Qlik is developing it very quickly. I had the chance to watch the development since they started and now their latest version is in the stage that allows well designed dashboards. I´m looking forward to the new developments for this tool and I´m sure Qlik will surprise us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The big advantage that we see for us is the possibility for self service BI for all users regardless of their skills to write complex formulas. Also the new visualizations allow to make better designs with more information at the same time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The question most new customer have is probably if they should buy Qlik View or Qlik Sense. I would says it depends on what you are trying to do. Qlik View is perfect for guided analytics and can bring the focus exactly on the point. Qlik Sense is perfect for Self Service BI where the user has got the possibility to make his own dashboards and views.

Qlik Sense Data Visualization

  • January 23, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
Qlik Sense is very easy to use for an end user, and is responsive out of the box(works across all screen sizes). Once data is loaded into an app, it is extremely fast in the UI with almost no 'data chug' even with data sets with tens of millions of rows. It is very easy to extend Qlik Sense with custom visualizations or even use the data engine to build your own applications, the API is great. The community is solid and does a good job responding to inquiries in a timely manor
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be a bit inflexible, it would be nice to have non-responsive dashboards that allow us to break away from the snap to grid default. Larger sheet canvases would also be great.

The set analysis formula syntax, while powerful, can be difficult to learn for a new user.

I don't think that some of the resource filter options for security rules in the QMC are as well defined as they could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time to value accelerated greatly. We're able to consolidate thousands of reports into meaningful dashboard representations. This allows us to see the entire company from 5000 ft up and drill down to ground level as the situation requires it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out Qlik Sense Desktop version, it's free and has almost every feature other than the enterprise administration features.

Dynamic Software with Apps anyone can use

  • November 02, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
How fast it can zoom in and out of data - we deal with millions upon millions of records. The speed at which we can zoom into a single day's individual location punch in by a single officer when the data set contains 1500 officers, for a 24/7 operation, over the course of 5 years, is astounding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of training resources. Myself and our IT administrator took the advanced and administration courses respectively, and there is still a lot we need to learn. There really are no technical resources we can purchase, other than the 3 courses from Qlik Sense, the one official book on the market, or paying for a bevy of consultants.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a large scale security operation and we learned how we lose worked hours by various leave types (sickness, training, union work, bereavement, Vacation, etc.). We see where we are spending our Overtime costs the most, and using percentages to see where the inefficient regional sites are and how best to address the financial implications.

Our current production App for our Operations Team puts together a team structure by Operation Manager to Service Delivery Manager to Officer. It shows all of their locations, shift times, attendance (instances and hours), and a host of other information. With this, we are able to eliminate Excel, Sharepoint, and 1000s of emails to manage this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take time with the solutions architect in learning how to deploy your company's data through Qlik Sense. This will tell you whether the software is right for you.

Also, ask about training resources, as we went through trial by fire - I took the advanced course and our IT administrator took the administration course. We felt that the resources provided through the courses were not sufficient, and we purchased the software to be largely self sustaining.

Great tool for visualization, success is pending OEM embedding

  • October 31, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very straightforward which allowed me to learn pretty significant amount of features in just a few days. Supports more sophisticated analysis with simple and intuitive syntax.
Default visualization library covers most of what you'll need + the examples reports are extremely helpful.
Filters role over between sheets which is super important for us + search functionality is great.
What do you dislike about the product?
Copy pasting of multiple visualizations is not possible (or at least I don't know how to do it).
Can't copy sheets from app to app, even if the field names are the same.
Doesn't allow export from the sharing option, only if you send the actual report.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are looking to OEM a BI solution to help better convey what our company does. It is NOT meant for internal use, only for customer interaction. If this OEM will be successful (still very early stages) this partnership will save us a huge amount of effort & dev resources while presenting our data and analytics in a much more compelling way than now.

Great Data Discovery product

  • September 21, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
QlikSense provide simplified UI to fulfill analysis need. Inside this intuitive user intreface lies very powerful and fast analytic engine. Product is suitable from simple personal needs (example visualize your own training data) to complex enterprise level business needs
What do you dislike about the product?
Right now QlikSense is very new product. They just introduced version 3.1. So the older brother from Qlik family (QlikView) have more flexibility and more possibilities. But this seems to be clear that QlikSense is the future and it develops very rapidly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's possible to use it everywhere where you find data and you need insight to this data. The main use cases are sales and financial analysis. It's good to built dashboards for managers, analytical views or quite static reports as well.

Qliksense is a useful for high level analysis

  • September 13, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
responsiveness and ease of adjusting displays, graphics and other visualizations. My workflow is much improved with this, and I can quickly move between various screens as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
some issues with exporting tables into excel, difficulty in recreating some pivot tables. Most of these issues should be overcome with experience, and when Qliksense is fully rolled out across all areas of the business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
product performance, monthly and quarterly performance reviews, year over year analysis. quickly identify key trends and patterns.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
once properly data mapped, the simple and clean interface is very accessible to even beginning users.

Best data visualization tool

  • August 12, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to creat great visual dashboards from multiple data sources with no coding skills.
What do you dislike about the product?
From my experience with this product, the possibility to script almost everything, doesn't leave me with much to complain about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main benefit from my experience (as user) with this tool is the fact that i save time from developing/scripting and i have more time to innovate and investigate more of the "story behind the data"
