What do you like best about the product?
The versatility is a big plus, you can basically work with any kind of structured data source: flat files, most of the databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing i don't like is you have to close and open the folders to see the changes reflected.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Informatica is great for ETL it makes working with data so much easier. There is everything available for everyone.

What do you like best about the product?
> Informatica power center is probably the most powerful ETL tool I have ever used
> It is potent enough to be used as a standard enterprise ETL tool
> It supports a rich functions library and a host of different tools to prepare and cleanse the data according to your need
> You can also use informatica power center to create reusable mappings called "mapplets", these mapplets are a real convenient way of using a transformation logic again and again
What do you dislike about the product?
> When you create a mapping in powercenter you also have to use 2 other tools to create the workflow and to run or schedule it
> Informatica can be slow at times
> Unlike other smaller competitors in the market informatica does not integrate well with the native datasets of various analytical tools like tableau, spotfire, qlikview etc
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
> We use Informatica as an enterprise ETL tool
> It helps us run batch data updates in the form of data migration from SAP to teradata systems
Recommendations to others considering the product:
> Consider using this tool if you process large amounts of data, to be specific if you have setup a data warehouse this might be an ideal tool for you
> Powercenter can solve any data related processing starting from cleansing to transforming the data and loading it to any leading RDBMS system.
> Do not use this tool if you want to process data for quick analysis using a BI tool

What do you like best about the product?
Debugger option in PowerCenter designer and ease of using IPC and easy to generate SQL statements as you no need to worry in writing huge sequel statements with IPC you can do it easily and effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still bugs in the tool which are to be fixed like tracing problem while running multiple workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I usually load the flat file data that comes everyday at particular time to database Target table and transposing the given set of data using informatica normalizer transformation. IPC is an easy and convenient tool to extract transform and load the source data into target.

What do you like best about the product?
It has lot of features to adopt the necessity of business . It is very fast and accurate. Metadata repository for the organization's ETL ecosystem.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of functionality compared to other tools or things that might be improved:
Lack of a possibility to do loops within informatica workflows.
Parameter files handling. The concept of using a parameter file is ok, however it would be nice to be able to dynamically set parameters during runtime. Editing the parameter file for each run is rather painful. This would be very helpful especially for development/testing phase.
It's not possible to run a single session within a worklet. Sometimes, again especially for testing/development, it's handy to just run sessions one by one. It's ok in workflows but why it's not possible within worklets ?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Business day to day data . Effective reporting .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's best and fast ETL tool with Cloud computing in the market.

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Informatica for about two years at my previous workplace. It is the best ETL Technology I have used. Some of the features that were very helpful to me
-> Access and ability to read data from multiple sources. Name the type of source and Informatica can read it.
-> The GUI is excellently simple. High on usability if I could say.
-> The expressions are many. I have used other ETL tools and I haven't found as many data manipulation expressions as in Informatica.
-> Ease of creating and using parameters.
-> Informatica PDO makes things so easier and simple to debug for errors or Data manipulations discrepancies.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was no feature that I disliked much.
Sometimes, I would feel to write a simple statement with a aggregation and the filter is all the steps to be done in Informatica necessary. Its a simple SQL Statement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It was a full fledged project. The project was to measure the success of services. Informatica was primarily used an ETL tool to crunch the data into a database for the relevant metrics.
Some of the befits that we saw -
-> Data residing across various databases and flat files easily synched to a single application layer
-> Easier manipulation of data
-> Faster to learn and implement than SQL
-> Easier and multiple methods of transportation of packages across various environments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A definite product to try for the Data Person of the company.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use even for those that are new to a new ETL tool. Ability to integrate to Cloud solutions. Easy to learn and design and troubleshot. Very reliable on a Unix environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
It needs to incorporate more features in the Standard Edition. All Standard edition is lacking was custom built and integrated with the tool
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Daily production report and key executive information through Informatica as a data integration tool.
Informatica is the main ETL tool to integrate into the EDW and therefore it is a critical tool

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that Informatica is solely focused on ETL and they set the industry standard that other tools try to reach.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike about the product except the way some of the things are arranged and organized. This is a small price to pay for the unbeatable stability and unparalleled performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are trying to solve enterprise ETL functionality and are realizing very consistent performance that we do not see with other products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is as good as it gets. The only option I would recommend is to look at the Cloud version as it offers additional functionality that the on premise version does not. Not to mention the fact that all the tools are headed to the cloud.
