Opportunity to get into coding without coding

  • May 14, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Using Alteryx gives users exposure to lots of Data Analytics concepts that otherwise would have a very high barrier to entry. This includes coding (which is difficult to get started in), as well as data engineering, statistical analyses and data science.

One of my first forrays into R and Python are through the use of those tools in Alteryx.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be bugs and inconsistencies that make coding that bid harder. For instance, clicking off a Python Tool, requires the user to rerun the workflow to populate the tool again. Something that just adds that extra complexity to what is already a difficult subject - coding.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a quicker turnaround time to something productive. Pure code can take many times longer than Alteryx' more intuitive drag-and-drop interface. This enables me to get any data-related project off the ground more quickly. Not to mention, it's much easier to debug and understand what is happening to the data.

Highly flexible no-code tools from ETL to GIS to machine learning

  • May 11, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can automate all kinds of data work with no code. Despite being a no-code system, data processing is as flexible as code. For example, you can handle data regardless of the data source, such as extracting data from complex Excel files, extracting necessary data from difficult text files, and connecting to APIs. In addition, you can perform complex data operations in the database without understanding SQL. In addition to data processing, it also has functions from spatial analysis to machine learning, making it a well-thought-out and flexible system for data analysis. If that's not enough, you can code in the Python execution environment of Alteryx, but I rarely need to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alteryx is not very good at visualization and require a BI tool for interactive dashboard, but It can be handled simple reports.
Although Server can be used flexibly with APIs, it would be even better if some management functions could be used without using APIs.
It is possible to visualize the MAP, but if you want to see it carefully on a map, you need to use it in combination with other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I originally used it to automate data processing for mobile phone-related work, but the spatial analysis function was a huge help. I was having a lot of trouble with a dedicated automation language for GIS, but I started using Alteryx and was able to automate things in no time.

Low code and easy to learn

  • May 10, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The drag and drop capabilities allow me to quickly create automated data processes
What do you dislike about the product?
As the years go by, some functionally and tools have transitioned to different code bases. They don't seem to be QA'd heavily before going to production, leaving users to figure out the bugs
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enterprise data tech teams can take years to build a solution for operational reporting. With Alteryx, our team can create and prototype solutions within a week

What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Alteryx for its user interface that allows me to easily create workflows without having to code. It works seamlessly with data sources giving me access, to analytics tools for predictive and spatial analysis along, with data cleaning capabilities. The automation feature simplifies tasks making data processing more consistent and efficient. Additionally the vibrant Alteryx Community offers templates and advice which makes learning a breeze. Whats great is that it can handle both datasets and big data catering perfectly to my data requirements.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alteryx has high cost, which can be prohibitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx addresses issues, for me by connecting to data sources and automating the process of cleaning data making sure my data is accurate and prepared for analysis. Its predictive and spatial analytics features assist me in discovering information and facilitating decision making effortlessly. Moreover by automating tasks using workflows I can save time lower the risk of mistakes and improve the effectiveness of my data operations.

Alteryx will Alter Your Excel

  • May 09, 2024
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The good thing about Alteryx is its visually intuitive user interface, making it user-friendly. This is a clear advantage compared to other ETL tools. Additionally, discussions within the community are active, and most questions can be resolved there.
Techncially, the speed of execution is quite high due to in-memory processing. The bigger the size of data is, the more advantage you gain.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the drawbacks is the presence of some bugs accompanying version upgrades. Because of this, I hesitate to immediately adopt the latest version. However, in most cases, these issues are resolved through patches, so it's not a serious concern. Furthermore, the occurrence of bugs is often linked to Alteryx continuously releasing new tools and features. In that sense, it's not necessarily negative and can be seen as beneficial for users in the long term.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Due to the nature of our business, we deal with large SQL databases and massive Excel files. Obtaining reports from these data sources required a large number of complex SQL queries and Visual Basic code, which was a headache for our data analysts. The introduction of Alteryx has brought several benefits to our business: 1) All processes can now be completed within the Alteryx platform, 2) Development time is much shorter than before, and 3) The barrier between data analysts and data users has been eliminated, allowing everyone to analyze data easily.
