Very helpful in handling large data sets that will take much longer with other applications

It helps speed up processes and work, which makes work more efficient.

Could be a bit confusing at times with so many tools

Alteryx helps with time management; handles data faster than Excel; saved hours which leads to more times for review and other responsibilities.

Easy to learn the basics and quickly add value to your team.
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy the fundamentals of learning how to build workflows is. I also like the tool easily connects to other tools such as Excel. Alteryx is much more effective than just using Excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how some of the tools are more challenging to understand and therefore implement in a workflow. Additionally, some of the logic within the calculator tool is difficult to comprehend.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Alteryx is helping to consolidate several reconciliations on my team that were previously performed in Excel and took many more hours to perform. We have cut down on hours for many processes.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how it can automate and run jobs in a gallery, and that it is very non-coder friendly. It also has good capacity when connecting to multiple input sources and can hold larger datasets
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes finding the icons and having to configure its properties on how to transform data takes longer than it may be when coding but that may be due to me having more familiarity with coding vs Alteryx
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automation and drawing in multiple input sources with ease. We have not yet regained access to the tool/license due to company policies but we hope to gain access and begin exploring more of its capabilities
Your digital brain for data visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx is most helpful by helping the user combine and clean various data sources prior to visualization. Think of yourself as a composer, and each input an instrument. The tools that Alteryx provides--of which there are many--help you refine and balance the sound.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the downsides to Alteryx is that its SQL writing environment could use improvements. While the program is a low-code/no-code platform, there are still many situations where SQL is incredibly helpful. It can sometimes be cumbersome to write the code directly in Alteryx, so an additional application specific to coding can be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For me, Alteryx solves the problem of silo'ed data sources elegantly. For projects requiring synthesis of many different data sources--some structured or unstructured, others automated or manual--Alteryx is a cornerstone in the work. For example, one can blend data from an Oracle database with data from Hadoop, or even data stored in an Excel workbook. It joins them all together and allows the user to combine them all into whatever outputs are necessary for the project. The outputs can be Tableau, Excel, CSV, etc which is incredibly useful as it can "feed" multiple dashboards that use the same data.

I likke how I am able to use Alteryx to transform manual tasks into a more automated process.

It is difficult to connect to a data server

What do you like best about the product?
I can take everything I used to do in excel and automate it to the point that I just hit run and it does what used to take up my time in formatting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Building things out in the python tool takes some getting used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to pull data in from multiple sources, blend it, and prepare it to make data driven business decisions is a must. I used to spend hours in Excel for what I can do in Alteryx in minutes.
Alteryx is the best bridge between business expertise and technical data expertise.
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of no-code, drag and drop tools means that data literacy no longer requires advanced degrees to solve analytical problems. Having a tool like Alteryx enables anyone in the company that has a problem to actively work to solve the issue without jumping through the hoops of getting your problem prioritized by the data science or analytical teams that would typically take that on.
What do you dislike about the product?
I see two downsides of Alteryx. The first is the cost of obtaining a license, which makes it less accessible for smaller companies. The second downside is that there is currently a learning curve that is initially steep for those who are less data-literate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my experience, Alteryx is solving the problem of enabling those with the most intimate business knowledge in our niche industry, to solve problems that they never could in the past due to a lack of access to data as well as the lack of sophisticated knowledge on data prep/analytics.

I have been using Alteryx for 6 months now. It helped me automate my Risk Audit tasks that took almost 2 months to complete.
My best moment came when a manager called me with a question. Answering it would take data from two or three databases and munging in MS Excel.I figured it would take about 3 hours.
But wait, I had received a license for Alteryx, so I installed and launched it. Input Data tool, connects to databases and I can write my own SQL? Henceforth, I can join data from different databases with the eponymously named Join tool. A few tools later, Filter, Formula, Summarize, and I was done.

Alteryx is very easy when you focus on the applying part. If you lack knowledge in SQL or Python then it can be hard to understand.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As soon as you bring an input on the canvas, wrap it in a container. Using "cache and run workflow" is the best. You can't cache multiple sources at once, so you want to disable all containers but 1, cache that one. Then enable the next container, cache, etc.
Learn to leverage the in-db tools. When first prototyping, my "input in-db" will pretty much always be select * from table, and second tool will be "select in-db". This allows you to sort / rename the columns and see everything on the table without having to go into the metadata window. I go back and optimize later.

User friendly data analytics platform
What do you like best about the product?
Alteryx Designer has hundreds of built-in tools ranging from connectors and pre-built analytics to custom functions, allows me to create my own analytics solutions easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Alteryx does not offer me a comprehensive graphical interface for visualizing data that many other ETL platforms do.

Alteryx helps me build repeatable data analytics workflows which helps me to analyze data from disparate data sources, such as databases, cloud services, and web applications. This provides me with a centralized platform to manage and process all of your data
