Version control and runners using GitLab

  • April 01, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best feature about gitlab apart from version controlling and storing code in different repository is auto devops and it's integration with different other services and tools like docker registeries, Jenkins etc, which helps user to setup best practices devops methodologies easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Gitlab provides a wide range of integrations and services but upgradation of gitlab from one version to another stable version is very difficult, this is where gitlab can improve. Even a user cannot upgrade from one version to another instead have to upgrade using a upgrade path, which is tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Apart from version controlling gitlab is benefiting me in implementing devops practices easily. We can easily setup auto devops using gitlab-ci.yaml file and implement different stages like SCR, dockerisation etc which makes the continuous integration process easy and automated.

Gitlab for the win

What do you like best about the product?
Gidlab has been a critical tool for us for many years. As a central git code repository, feature-rich, including pipeline triggering and monitoring, it provides a significant role in our deployments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Gitlab CE edition could have better support now for native high-availability capabilities but otherwise is a feature capable for our use-case. There could be room to help improve performance in larger deployments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gidlab has been a critical tool for us for many years. As a central git code repository, feature-rich, including pipeline triggering and monitoring, it provides a significant role in our deployments.

Must Have Platform For Developers To Manage Projects Effectively

  • March 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab is a need for software development teams as it has a full range of tools to effectively manage projects and facilitate communication. It is simple to communicate with collaborators, tag tasks, and keep track of milestones. It aids you in creating secure, version-controlled, and permissions-aware code.
What do you dislike about the product?
The priorities and milestones are not presented in a particularly visible manner. When attempting to handle projects effectively, Gitlab can be frustratingly slow and cumbersome to use. For new developers, using it can be challenging due to the abundance of options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With its powerful capabilities and straightforward UI, Gitlab, in my opinion, is a top solution for software developers wishing to manage their projects effectively. Excellent UI to work with, easy collaboration with other devs, and a wonderful tool to use to make sure your code is backed up.

Best code repo and CICD tool

What do you like best about the product?
In my opinion, Gitlab is for both highly technical engineers and non technical ones as well. The capability to be able to write code and commit the changes from the UI and as well as using the CLI provides the flexibility for adhoc code management as well as full fledged application codes that can be used to setup automated build process, integrate with oither tools for building a contineous CI/CG pipeline. It is easy to use the CLI commands in other automated scripts as well. In a nutshell, it is a great tool to store, manage and setup contneous delivery as deemed fit.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be nice to metrics to indicate how a build is progress, how it was triggered and how long did it take to complete etc. Metrics always help to understand the maturity of team in enhancing their DevOps pipeline
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Code storage, management, handling, building and deployment. In short it manages the code life cycle from the creation stage to the deployment of the Application.

GitLab is a good service, But sometimes it's getting issues in login from the website. The onboarding process should be smooth for first-time users. Else everything is perfect.

Gitlab: Benefits, Features and Ease of Use

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has efficient project management tools for tracking development tasks, encouraging collaboration between teams. Users receive private repository access according to individual permissions and restricted organization settings. Its continuous integration/deployment feature allows developers to find errors quickly and deploy changes securely in the production environment, making processes streamlined.
What do you dislike about the product?
Few of the things I don't like in Gitlab is it's user interface because it is confusing and hard to use. Furthermore, the storage space available for projects is inadequate for larger tasks or multiple projects. Moreover, there are not many third-party integrations, making it difficult to keep data in sync across multiple services. Lastly, automation tools are missing; this hinders code review, testing, and release management from being automated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find that Gitlab is a great platform for managing projects and code collaboratively. It has features such as continuous integration/deployment, sprints, milestones tracking, secure code reviews, advanced role-based permissions settings and more that help me work efficiently and safely. This gives me greater agility, speed in development cycles and prevents costly mistakes. All this transparency helps increase productivity and improve collaboration between team members.

Complete soultion for Project Management in Agile

  • February 13, 2023
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a complete solution starting from raising issues, managing scrums, and backlog to code versioning, reviews, and continuous integration and deployment and report generation for velocities.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have started using the tool for backlog grooming also, it's difficult to add a new task in GitLab because it allows only the title but to add details we need to click multiple times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using the tool for end-to-end project management, backlog management, running our sprints, code versioning, and code reviews, and continuous integration. This allow us to save a lot of time and we have reduced the time to market by 50%.
