What do you like best about the product?
GitLab does a great job at creating a experience for newly developers. We previously had several best-of solutions, co-exist between our team, but we managed to consolidate this into a single solutions, which meets most of our needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Just the UI can be difficult at times when first understanding how to use it and the other is aspect I find annoying is user management right now, otherwise all the things are good to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being central repository, easy to merge our cd process .
VCS is our mainly usage.
Source control for non-public code repositories.
Now our teams are better organized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a secure, supple ,custom adaptable SCM solution for Enterprise applications, this is the one for you because it gives us the 100% control over the application.

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing that I like about GitLab is that it's ability to be deployed as a separate instance inside a company's firewall along with the simplicity to use, maintain and deploy. This simply provides a greater control and ensures the security.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features like the ssh key integrations and other 3rd party integrations can be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use a custom instance of GitLab inside the company firewall for maintaining our entire codebase. This gives us the 100% control over the application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a secure, agile ,custom deployable SCM solution for Enterprise applications, this is the one for you!

Easy to use!

What do you like best about the product?
I love the interface GitLab has and I love the fact that it's extremely easy and intuitive to use. I've used GitHub and always had trouble understanding where to go and how some things work. GitLab is so damn easy to use. I believe anyone can get started in a very short amount of time. Having CI/CD as a part just simplifies things further.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wished CI was easier to set-up. There is a very detailed set of instructions of how to, but as a beginner I have had trouble following it and wish it was a bit easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm fairly new to GitLab but it has made me work faster. It's very easy to use and that adds a lot to productivity and speed.

Why Choose GitLab

What do you like best about the product?
GitLab offers a lot more functionalities than GitHub. There is built in Continuous Integration as well as more available project metrics and data. Review Apps is something that sets GitLab apart. With RAs, you can test out changes in a separate mirror without merging to the master. This is crucial when making large overhauls or comparison between the existing and edited app.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a bit weird to transition from GitHub to GitLab, especially since the interface is so different, but the experience is still user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used GitLab as a part of a open-source coding competition. It was just a fresher way to manage a repository and overall greater than GitHub.

The very strong brand/ working culture is working in the favour of GitLab against GitHub

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is better and CI/CD is way more robust. GitLab has also got a great working culture ("remote is the future of work" for sure!) and a very strong brand, and good communication and presence on various platforms.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing, I can't really complain. Maybe they could have a Windows installer?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Source code repository, QA checking through Pull Requests and Issue management.
The benefit is that everything one place.

What do you like best about the product?
Thanks to GitLab OpenSource program we were able to improve our deployment process.
If you're working in an OpenSource project you can reach out to them and they'll help you.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes as many other services, errors can happen (maybe a short downtime or so) and sometimes it's hard to figure out if its something related to your or Gitlab.
I would love to see some improvement in error reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Gitlab we're solving collaborative and CI/CD tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth trying out! ;P

They understand open source software, plus their CI/CD tool does a great job

What do you like best about the product?
The main reason why I chose Gitlab over years of using Github was because of their CI/CD tool. Github doesn't come with it out of the box and we needed a solution in a team where nobody is a DevOps but js developers.
The second most important aspect was finding out that Gitlab offers Gold subscriptions to open source teams, like us at EOS Design System. This has been a life-changer too since now our pipelines run a lot faster and we can use tools to manage the product from within Gitlab.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only problem I find in Gitlab is that most external services come with built-in integrations for Github almost always, and just a few of them release features for Gitlab. For instance, there is a great feature available for Heroku applications that are open source that enables your repository to have a "1 click deploy" button for Heroku, however, this only works with Github repos. Like that, there are many other services that are only integrated with Github.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our products are all open source and they run on Heroku. Gitlab hosts the front-end with their free Gitlab pages and we run the APIs on Heroku. The integration was absolutely easy, the documentation was very easy to find when we started some years ago and wanted to deploy automatically to Heroku and Gitlab pages.
The benefits from this have been the little-to-none time spent overengineering a solution maintaining servers, as we did in the past, it let's us focus on what we do best that is web development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it. The solution is complete and worst case, switching back is a no brainer.

What do you dislike about the product?
The community support is not very commendable

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
