Highly performant and easy to use emulator

  • January 13, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best?
The speed, performance and the ease of use are the best features. Plus the ability to resize the emulator screen is an added advantage. Also support for camera is very good.
The ability to integrate in a continuous server is simple at the same time powerful.
The IDE plugins make it even more reachable.
Command Line support is exactly in support of most of the android developers.
What do you dislike?
The fact that google has updated their emulators with network throttling , Genymotion is still lagging behind.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Helps to emulate the app we are developing on multiple devices. The easy to jump into landscape mode and portrait mode
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are in need of simplifying your development process and reduce time just go for Genymotion

Incredibly useful for Android app development

  • January 13, 2016

What do you like best?
First, maybe it's worth mention that I'm not a native Android developer, but I've been building a lot of Android apps based on Cordova (you know, hybrid app with web stack toolset) and hence, have to find ways to make life easier. Genymotion is really a helpful tool I can find

* Incredibly fast! Also, it's easy to setup and use, handy and useful for non-Android developers
* A whole lot of devices, installing by just one click, very handy to test and compare cross devices. We even have OEM customized build installed, pretty friendly.
* Just like connecting your real devices to computer via a cable, with full root access via adb, remote debugging (for web views) with Chrome ...
* Nice and handy mocks, especially useful for testing
What do you dislike?
No such a thing called dislike, indeed. But maybe the price of it, I myself prefer one-time payment instead of annually charge, but it's merely preference, and I don't really need those extra features all the time, especially for testing hybrid mobile apps across multiple devices.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I use Genymotion in my everyday hybrid mobile app development (with Cordova), handy, fast and useful.
Also, it's funny, I use it as my personal Android device when I don't have my real devices by my side, for shopping online with in-app promos.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Recommended, a pretty good Android emulator. If it's not for production, Genymotion is also a good tool for a virtual Android (trying out a software, playing a Android-only game, etc ..)

Satisfied. GenyMotion Android emulator was pleasure to work with.

What do you like best?
Wide range of supported devices. Winning speed in comparison with native Android emulator. Intuitive UI.
What do you dislike?
You must be registered in order to download it.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
I've used GenyMotion Android emulator while working on mobile application based on Ionic framework. Basically Android SDK has native Android emulator but it was not even half as fast as GenyMotion's. For Android emulation purposes without a doubts GenyMotion's is best in the market.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For Android emulation purposes without a doubts GenyMotion's is best in the market.

Android emulated in the right way

  • December 29, 2015
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best?
The first thing that really catches your perception is how amazingly and incredibly fast Genymotion is: from the very first time, you will notice that is really like having Android running on a real device, while it is emulated using VirtualBox. Moreover, you get a full set of tools that will make your life easier, first of which the network conditioner, that can help you troubleshooting your connectivity service without external proxies.
What do you dislike?
As a user of both the personal and the business licence, I don't really like the gap between the two accounts: while they keep on adding tools into the business account, they leave the personal one behind, so that new users cannot have a true scent of what Genymotion is. Moreover, the idea of indie developer would be great, but the fact that is billed annually with a higher cost than expected is scaring a lot of developers. Last thing, the lack of Play Services (you can install it anyway) is something you don't really want when you need to test Google Services
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
As an Android Developer, you cannot really test your app on every device around. You need a better and faster tool. And this is what Genymotion is. Either with the free, indie or business license, there is no better and faster emulator around
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a tool for your Android Developer (or related) career, just go straight to Genymotion. And purchase the Indie license. It might look expensive but is it really, compared to the cost of all the other softwares that you would need?
