Open Operating Systems is one of the easiest to use nowadays.

What do you like best about the product?
ubuntu is an operating system that I like because it is free open source software that gives programmers the opportunity to have a free license operating system, that is, free of cost and with features and functionalities that make it a tool for great utility and ease to develop codes and programs easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
is a great free software that allows you to optimize various tasks that we could not with other operating systems, however when working and modifying Windows documents that are usually complex, when we open and manipulate them they have become difficult tasks or almost impossible to work due to the low compatibility to import from Windows for Linux, which does not happen vice versa.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it has been a large distribution of Linux that has generated different opportunities and with it brings benefits that allows us to reduce problems in terms of its implementation, mainly with this operating system it solves the compatibility problem that many operating systems have with Windows, on the contrary Ubuntu is compatible, which is a great advantage over others because Windows is undoubtedly the most used worldwide, also the problems of complexity and understanding are set aside as it is easy to use and understand by programmers with Basic knowledge and in general by the end user. I consider it important that with this operating system we can leave viruses aside, since virus writers normally do not act on this Linux distribution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend it because it offers advanced security features and is a free operating system and although it presents versions that require payment, it is still more accessible than Windows, and as a very important aspect we can execute and load tasks with greater efficiency than with Windows.

What do you like best about the product?
Abundant availablility of packages and latest updates. Since based on Debian, packages are really easy to find. Especially the obscure command line stuff are all in the repository.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have couple Redhat servers and serveral Ubuntu servers and it just seems to kernel panic more than the Redhat servers. So stability seems to be an issue from time to time. It could be hardware compability though...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting webservers, NAS, and ssh and firewalls.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There's no real barrier to entry especially since it's free and there's whole lot of community support. From beginners to experts. Since it's based on debian, all the userbase there can help out as well.

The ideal operating system for developers

What do you like best about the product?
One of the most popular linux distributions. Not too much graphical elements and hence we can speed up the code writing and running process substantially. Also the apt package manager is very convenient. Easy to install on Desktops, Raspeberry pis(the lite version) and Servers free of any charge.
What do you dislike about the product?
Display and Graphic drivers still need to be improved. The version which I've been using doesn't recognize an external display hence it's very hard to present anything or mirror displays. Also the default office tools are below par and take too long to work with. Support for Nvidia drivers is one thing I would totally want to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deployment of distributed ledger technology on microsoft azure, AWS, running docker containers for hyperledger, coding environment for various tools and smart contracts for hyperledger. Ubuntu servers are very convenient to host a high computing application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say it's one of the most versatile distributions. With some practice of shell programming one can easily get started with it.

Amazing open source software

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about ubuntu is that it is open source, you could practically edit each of the internal files and understand how does a operating system works. Also Tensorflow works great in this system, rather than in windows
What do you dislike about the product?
A disadvantage of using Ubuntu is that the Media players are very much outdated. Also it is a bit intimidating when you install Ubuntu in a dual boot manner. When I was a novice, I deleted my windows partition while installing ubuntu. The grub installer also yields some problem while installing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tensorflow and Keras are my primary work currently. The benefit that I have realized is that everything can be modified and there is a great community out there where you could ask answers from. Also recently I have been doing API related Flask work, and Ubuntu is awesome!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its amazing, far better than commercial operating systems and it saves you 100 dollars

Best open source operating system

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Ubuntu is that it is free of cost. It provides long term support so there is no need of upgrading again and again.Inbuilt repository of Ubuntu also makes our life easy as it includes variety of inbuilt packages which are helpful in some or the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not support middlewares which we use in our daily routine. Hardware support is also not upto the mark which makes playing games difficult in leisure time. Ubuntu offers less support for commercial, logistics and industrial technologies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am actually working in Blockchain technology which requires fast computation time so I prefer using Ubuntu as it is very robust and fast.
