Stable, secure and virus-free Linux for all PCs.

  • October 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is the easiest and most stable Linux system, it has a lot of documentation on the Internet and constant updates, making it safe and stable.
The installation of programs from the Ubuntu software center is simple, I look for the program you want, download and install.
Ubuntu has several versions for different types of PCs, lightweight like Lubuntu, Edubuntu school, Ubuntu server, and all this based on the Ubuntu / Debian Kernel.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ubuntu has problems with Windows NTFS partitions and compatibility problem with programs in Wine.
There are Debian programs that do not work well in Ubuntu, lack of compatibility and ease of installation of programs over the Internet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the same Ubuntu Kernel for old PCs and servers, I always have security updates on my system and virus free.
I do not need the Ubuntu Server to install my services, since Ubuntu with graphical interface and any of its derivatives I install the Apache Server services.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Download this program for your PC, it is virus free and free, the graphical interface has a search engine for programs and files of all kinds, to facilitate search, system backup and much more.
I recommend it to you.

The best operating system with a large user community.

What do you like best about the product?
There are applications for all platforms (Linux, Windows, Mac Os).
The price of applications is much lower, most of the time they are free.
Freedom of copy
Freedom of modification and improvement.
Freedom of use for any purpose.
Freedom of redistribution
Easy to translate an application in several languages.
Greater security and reliability.
The user does not depend on the author of the software.
What do you dislike about the product?

Some applications can be somewhat complicated to install.
Absence of guarantee by the author. Less friendly graphic interfaces.
Little stability and flexibility in the field of multimedia and games.
Less hardware compatibility.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use this operating system for a few years in my work, I would highlight part of the mentioned performance. It makes the execution of the programs directly or background barely consume resources and producing great benefits when it comes to work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended to experience true freedom when using the computer. Greater security and reliability.

Good for the industry, whether beginner, intermediate or advanced.

What do you like best about the product?
How they are continually working to improve it no matter the obstacles. It has come to a point where this system is rivaling in my opinion the RHEL distros to some degree.
What do you dislike about the product?
LTS support is only for a year to two years after the LTS version is released. Though I am annoyed that they abandoned working further on the phone os. Even though other groups are working on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily deployable Cloud environments for my customers. Also finding a easily upgradable solution for both desktop and server needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Remember this is based of Debian Linux. Doesn't mean you will learn it in one sitting but a lot of the Distro's of Linux hold similar setups and configs.

Ubuntu Use in Assisted Video

  • October 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are endless options for plugins and libraries to choose from when implementing Ubuntu into a new or existing product development effort. In addition, Ubuntu provides many options for community forum support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Obviously one downside to using Ubuntu for a new or existing product development effort is that almost all plugins and libraries are open source with spotty or no technical support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Because Ubuntu is free and widely used it does lend itself to fast time-to-market schedules in certain product development efforts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Before committing to using Ubuntu carefully consider the full costs of going open-source as opposed to just comparing the list price of Ubuntu (free) against other options that have upfront fees but also include significantly more technical support.

Ubuntu: Perfect for Everyday Use without the headache of licensing.

  • October 18, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ubuntu is very feature rich and the UI has evolved a lot since i first started using it, it has become very user friendly and has kept resource usage low till this day, it is perfect for use in thin clients and other entry level computers and offers a lot of out of the box applications, and has very small updates compared to Windows and MacOS making it perfect for those who do not have a lot of bandwidth for updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
ubuntu can sometimes require additional configuration and often needs someone to know how to use its terminal which can be very frustrating for first time users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I offer ubuntu to clients that have old hardware with specifications below current entry level standards and to clients switching from old unsupported Windows editions and do not have money for a windows license, and it also serves as a good OS for schools and charities, so building up computers from old computer parts form old broken machines and installing ubuntu on it has proved to be an affordable way to help NGOs have computers and go digital where it seemed impossible to do so with a limited budget.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a clean and free alternative OS, consider Ubuntu, it has come a long way and is now very easy to use, I even recommend it to most of my elderly clients and they always come back commending me on how fast their devices have gotten and how easy it is for them to navigate it. And best of all: it is free and they have a great community for support.

Open Source Best Operating System

  • October 17, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The very first thing that comes to mind is that ubuntu is open source. Which makes it free and since it based on debian so it is stable as well. GNOME makes is a user friendly and a lot easier to use. Support community of ubuntu is best among other linux operating systems. LTS version of ubuntu's are great, they are in for the long run and are stable as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes while updating the system, it breaks and the system crashes. Since it is open source so there is not a lot of testing of code before the code reaches a user system. Which makes a bit less secure and can be prone to hackers as well maybe in the future. Sometimes for installation of a software, we have write commands in terminal rather than the software being available on the software center for easy installation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being open source and free makes it a lot more interesting. We can use it in a big company and it will save a lot of cost by not having to buy another operating system for all other employees. Thus saving a lot of money at the end of the year.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't expect it to work like windows, it has it's own perks and advantages. Terminal in it's own is amazing and can solve a lot of problems and we can install any version of a particular software

Ubuntu in Industory

  • October 16, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a Linux based operating system that makes it more secure than windows and because of this, it provides security to our data stored in it. In this, we can easily install the software in Ubuntu by the terminal using the package file.
What do you dislike about the product?
File supported in Ubuntu is very less and it does not support NTFS file formate because of this our window user faces some problem while sharing the file with Ubuntu users. The user interface is not that friendly in Ubuntu many times we have to search google to find services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Ubuntu for managing our network infrastructure to handle traffic on our network and to monitor activities performing on our network. We created a network monitoring tool using Ubuntu and it is working very well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would like to recommend Ubuntu to other users also because it is a very useful tool for their organization for the testing environment to run Linux based application on it.
