no direct HA support
If you are happy to run a single appliance in a single AZ and don't care about high availability, you can take risk of running this appliance. But I don't understand why businesses will do this.
This appliance does not support HA, or atleast does not seem to on AWS cloud. Without an HA solution this becomes only working for non-enterprise users for testing on AWS.
Businesses trying to deploy this on AWS will not have out of the box HA solution and hence will not have the ability to failover connections/VPN which does not make it useful.
Pfsense company should publish an article on how to provide HA solution for multi-AZ deployment.
Very disappointed.
pfSense: Fast, BSD-based routing with a great community
What do you like best about the product?
pfSense is a fast, very stable routing and security platform that has a large community behind it and is very customizable. It's easy to run on low-power hardware and a great alternative to openwrt.
What do you dislike about the product?
Changes in the Negate licensing structure have made pfSense more expensive/difficult to run on cloud platforms for free. These changes don't seem necessary for me, but I understand the need to earn for usage in clouds.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
pfSense helped to create an open-source and very performant routing & security platform for both hardware and cloud deployments. pfSense has allowed us more configuration options with minimal overhead.

The Must Have Home Router Solution

This is the best user interface I've ever used for the complex task of network management. The defaults are excellent, and optimizing settings is easy thanks to great documentation.
