Blackboard Learn is not

  • September 27, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes course (degree) completion a possibility for students with busy schedules or students living in remote areas.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is limited access in editing pre-existing courses. It is also not intuitive to link pages from one section to another, which also makes it very difficult to edit existing pages that are already linked elsewhere.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has made online learning a possibility for many students who are unable to attend classes. It has allowed me to set out learning materials and various assessments including assignments and tests.

It is interesting to set timer for exam or quiz
What do you dislike about the product?

Great

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is a great tool for use in a university setting, allowing you to create fully customisable course pages and to monitor use of resources and assessment submission.
What do you dislike about the product?
While the interface is fairly easy to use, it is a little clumsy at times. Changes don't always save.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard makes it easy to coordinate large university courses and to provide students with resources/information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get to know how blackboard works, especially within your own industry, before you roll it out.

Very clunky but adequate

  • September 08, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's convenient for keeping track of student grades, and they can see their grades online. You can also download a list of student emails or email students directly through Blackboard. It's also fairly convenient for posting materials.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard is very clunky. The organization of functionality is non-intuitive. Doing even basic tasks often requires multiple clicks and page refreshes. It takes a long time to load things and to navigate around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a convenient way to post course materials and grades. It allows instructors to not have to maintain a course website with course materials posted. Students can see and track their grades in real-time as they are posted.

Really helpful for in the classroom

  • September 06, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The thing that I like the most about Blackboard is its easy to use user interface. With this program I am able to quickly select my course from a list of my current classes and see any assignments or notes that each professor has posted for their respected classes. Also, I use the mobile app for iOS everyday and it is really well made. I like that I am able to check my current grade in the course at any time. This feature really helps me keep track of how I am doing in the class.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I do dislike about Blackboard Learn is that I sometimes have difficulty finding the specific file I am looking for in a course. I think this has more to do with how each professor sets up their page, but it can take me a while to find an assignment or due dates because of this. One possible solution would be to give users an option to search all of the files in a course. If there was a list of all of the files in a course with a link to each one, then I would be able to find my assignments a lot quicker sometimes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Blackboard I am able to access a large collection of files for each of my courses. I am able to easily access a record of all assignments my professors have posted and that are due in the past or at a later date.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take advantage of it’s easy access

Blackboard Training

  • September 04, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use Blackboard to facilitate training for our student workers. There are different modules based on how long they've been with us and their status, as well as areas we use to tell them how they're doing on attendance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Accessibility can be an issue. I have trouble using it and making sure I have all the documents up in the right area.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Training is being streamlined so it is more organized and easier for them to get refreshers when they need them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You have different statuses on Blackboard, and they all do different things. I can't add content, add/delete students and change the page all at once. Those things are done by the instructor, embedded librarian and administrator separately.

Blackboard

  • September 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used blackboard for years and like the versatility it has in regards to classroom tools. There are various ways to upload content and have students upload as well. The best part is the turnitin feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard is not very user friendly and requires a lot of calls to customer help. Even then, things do not get solved right away.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefit is that multiple students can be on the server at once. It is also helpful to put everything electronically in one place for a class.
