App is buggy

  • January 20, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to access course content on-the-go, but the app has tech bugs that need to be fixed. There have been many reviews to this effect, but it has not been fixed. For example, after a grade is posted, the student is notified over and over of the posted grade even after the student has clicked to view it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like the full online computer version (not the app). It is easy for students to take tests and see grades right away. The discussion board is nice as well. It integrates with multimedia too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Online learning platform

Course Management System

  • January 20, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Allows for course content to be found in one place. Tests, assignments, grades, and course documents can all be kept within the course. Announcements can be sent to students. Students can have online discussions, create wiki's, and link to useful websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some functions do not always work in the most straightforward way. The grading function can be cumbersome. The mobile app needs work. Creating tests and quizzes from scratch can be a very time consuming process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows for a one stop location for all course content.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It allows for putting all of your course content online and in one place. It also allows for online quizzes and testing that you can set time limits and even different parameters for different students. The discussions, announcements, and online assignment submissions are also very useful. There is also a plagiarism check that you can have assignments sent through. All in all a pretty useful course management system that only really lacks in the mobile app.

I like the ability to share information from class to class and instructor to instructor.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have better access for grade entry in the app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I’m not sure that my use of Blackboard allows me to solve business problems so to speak. I continue to learn it’s benefits every semester that make my data entry more efficient.

It's good but could be way better

  • January 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Reliability. Our Blackboard was hosted by Blackboard and it NEVER went down.
What do you dislike about the product?
Human interaction. Support and sales both could be unreliable. Any modification costs big money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's a solid LCMS. We built out an entire e-learning infrastructure with Blackboard at the core.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get all of your support conditions in writing as part of your annual contract.

Works as a course management system, but not my favorite

  • January 12, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to navigate, tests and quizzes work great
What do you dislike about the product?
The app is not useful for teachers. Having switched to another course management system, I find Blackboard to lack some of the more useful features of the new system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Course management and learning for students.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It works, but I believe there are better course management systems available.

Fine for the most part; still working out bugs

  • January 11, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard allows fast, interactive communication with students. In addition, it facilitates lively discussion over course material via blogs, journals, discussion boards, and forums.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes content is hard for students to locate, even with explicit instruction. The dashboard does not organically lead students to the most important content -- the instructor has to be very particular when giving students directions for Blackboard tasks, or else they won't find it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Once students are acclimated with its interface, BB becomes their preferred mode of communication. It eliminates the he said/she said arguing that can sometimes plague professors. Likewise, the students will sometimes communicate institutional feedback through this tool that can be used to supplement surveys.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explore Canvas, as well. It has all the same features with fewer glitches. The interface is also more user-friendly and 21st Century.
