Recommendations to others considering the product:
familiarize yourself with the functions first, especially related to assignments and grading

Blackboard makes my online classes seamless

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Blackboard is organized. I like how my professors can break our lesson content down into different modules. I like that the lesson content sits side by side with my assignments. It makes it easy to have everything in one place. And it helps me stay on top of everything to avoid missing a deadline!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like are the aesthetics. It is a bit bare-bones and industrial looking. But it functions just fine for what I need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I like the benefit of having my course content, assignments, and grades all in one place. It makes it so much easier to have a one-stop-shop for all the things we need, rather than sending students around to different locations online.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would say to give it a try! I think you'll be happy with how it streamlines and organizes all the content.

Blackboard has been a great portal for us as both faculty and staff members.

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The product allows fairly simple directions on how to add new courses and assignments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some faculty members and students have had issues with homework assignments not updating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We went through a number of different course offerings and Blackboard still won out for us with the ease of use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at everything out there and see what works best for you and the course offerings you will have. Everything has pluses and minuses when you come to the set up of the product.

Blackboard review as a student

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can attach assignments and take quizzes from anywhere as long as I have access to the internet. Easy to follow instructions left by the professor. Messages come right to my inbox.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not pleasing to the eye. Took a little longer than I would have liked to get used to the system. Had to have a TA work with me to get fully adjusted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes it easier to interact with professors and TAs. I like that you can time stamp the assignments and quizzes so you know exactly when something was turned in or completed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great platform once you get used to the nuances. I don't know how many other programs are out there that offer a similar service, but it was nice to use as a student. Has an option for live chat so that way you can log-in and let the professor know that you were present during a class.

Good website but with a lot of bugs

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is a good website with a lot of educational tools which helps you in keeping everything together in one place. By that I mean, both jobs related, and course-related content if you are at a University. It has well-divided layouts and sections for specific things and it has also made group collaboration easy for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard has a lot of glitches. It is difficult to submit a lot of different file formats through blackboard and it constantly crashes, leaving your progress unsaved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have a lot of courses that I am taking on Blackboard. I also have to take job related training on blackboard and give my submissions. It is a good place to keep reminders and I would definitely recommend it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I will recommend using it.

Review of BlackBoard.

  • December 19, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can look at your grades, obtain class materials, and submit homework assignments. It is intuitive and simple to use. I have never had any issues downloading materials or uploading assignments. Navigation is smooth too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like Canvas more because its app is better and easier to navigate. It's announcements are more easily accessible and you can also contact the other students from the app itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
testing, communication, quizzes, announcements
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good option for e-education management website. Their app has improved significantly and they're doing maintenance constantly so it's on a good path.

Older Platform but still works!

  • December 18, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to keep a running total of grades is extremely important, as is the ability to let students upload their own work. Links to YouTube, worksheets, and other internet sites or files to upload is easy to use. It's also a great platform to email the entire class at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have multiple classes, it takes a long time to share information between the classes (even if they are the same).

The platform is clearly older.

Occasionally links shared via Learn, particularly surveys and onepoint links don't work through Learn and this can be very frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am happy to have an LMS that can consolidate all of our materials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure links work appropriately!

Blackboard

  • December 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've used a couple different LMS applications, and I think Blackboard is about on the same level as others. I won't lie--I haven't come across one yet that is 100% user friendly and reliable. Once you learn the system or if you're just using basic functions, you shouldn't have too many problems and can be productive. Compared to some other LMS', I do find that it's easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Slightly outdated and can be hard to learn compared to some other (free) LMS'. Not great app/phone performance. Must make sure that EVERYTHING is updated (browser, flash, etc.).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
LMS' have been a necessary tool for online students. However, since so many students have turned on e-learning, I feel that LMS' either need to catch up or a new type of program is going to take their place. So far, they have been beneficial and as I said, a necessity in such learning.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In the past, it has had its downfalls, but I do feel like they are starting to slightly improve. Do your research--there are some free LMS' that are just as user friendly, but it depends on what all you need from your learning management system.

Time-Saver

  • December 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked how much time I saved as a course coordinator. It requires more time without this program between grading, printing, and creating assignments manually,
What do you dislike about the product?
I had to play around and research to understand the rubric settings. I eventually figured it out but it wasn't as intuitive as the other features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As previously mentioned, I have saved a lot of time. Students receive their grades quicker. It streamlines everything.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It makes sense to have all of your documents and a plan for assignments ready before you begin in blackboard. Have a hard copy of the syllabus near you so that you can schedule assignments accordingly. Overall, this program is a customizable LMS and it works nicely.
