Get a good Blackboard support team, perhaps a section of your IT department. It made a huge difference for us. Dive in and try their new features, and continue to explore them as Blackboard seeks to make their product better.

Average Platform for Courses
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard makes viewing content that you need for courses easy, such as PDFs and PowerPoints.
What do you dislike about the product?
Clunky interface makes it difficult to use, especially on mobile. The design layout doesn’t seem very modern. It can also run slow and crash. Overall it is not as user-friendly as it could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps my professors get me the information I need for class. As a teaching assistant, I can get the materials to my students as well.
Pretty good central learning tool.

There is quite a bit of customization that can go into Blackboard and you are able to organize material well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it seems like not all content will display properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work at a university so it is being used for assisting to teach classes to teaching full courses online. It is a great benefit for online classes and is a must have for our institution.
Blackboard Review
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is a great place to integrate courses. It is easy to handle. It is easy to submit assignments through it and is also easy to grade them. I like that it reminds you of the content that's due soon as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Incompatible in the app version with my phone. It doesn't work well on a lot of browsers. It freezes/crashes a lot on phone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For tutoring purposes and for classroom management. It is very easy to access by everyone, which is probably something that I love the most. It has definitely helped me be more organized.

I would highly recommend using blackboard.
Great academic tool
What do you like best about the product?
I love how customizable it is. Not by design or user interface by any means, but the content can be dramatically changed, redesigned, reorganized as different as you want it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really dislike how confusing it can be sometimes. Text that is blue isn't always obvious that they are clickable links.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Some business problems I'm solving with Blackboard include how detailed I can be to share grades with students/groups of people. I realize that we can completely eliminate miscommunication if students and teachers know how to use both.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check it out first, and see if this tool would work best with your needs. But there are a lot of different customizations, tools, etc. that is hidden so make sure you find and try all those first before saying "no" to Bb.
Intuitive for both faculty and student
What do you like best about the product?
As a student, I really liked how all my coursework and grades were in one system. Now working in higher education I have seen and heard how this same reason makes classroom organization and course delegation and grading simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there were bugs that caused blackboard to shut down, but that happens with all systems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Editing papers is easier, posting grades all in one system, coursework delegation made simple, enables students to stay informed about different tasks and assignments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think this is an easy solution to improve campus wide structure and organization in the classroom. It was frustrating when my professors did not use Blackboard to post grades, assignments, etc.

What do you like best about the product?
It works great from an administrator perspective, but I think it can be confusing sometimes for students.
What do you dislike about the product?
The calendar can sometimes be confusing when you have multiple classes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integrate each calendar into the class; have easy access for assignments for students.
Good mobile interface, but navigation is not intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
The mobile interface is very similar to the desktop mode. This makes it easy to access anything on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like the interface is not the most intuitive for navigation. There are a lot of links and many different tabs. I think it could be organized better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to email students in an entire class or an individual student.

It's a fairly good product that has gotten better with time.
Reliable and easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard has been around a long time and most are familiar with its basic functionality. The learning curve to get a new user up and running is small.
What do you dislike about the product?
The format is a bit restrictive , but that’s also what makes it easy for a new user to learn.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used in my previious role as a project coordinator for a professional development grant. We were able to easily enroll university students and non-students in our monthly PD. It was very user friendly for students who hadn’t taken online courses.
