Blackboard in Higher Education
What do you like best about the product?
It is a easy to use product. It is a one stop shop for instructors to create their online classroom environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Their technical support for end users could be better. Their product is quite pricey.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a good tool for instructors to collaborate with their students. A lot of useful tool can integrate with Blackboard. It makes for a great location for student to log on and see what their instructors expect of them out of the class.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Contact Blackboard and get them to do a webinar with you to see how it works and see if it is a good fit for your educational institution. Call some institutions that use Bb and let them show you how it works. Watch some youtube videos about it. Amazingly a lot can be learned about the product via just google and youtube.

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite aspect of Blackboard is the easy to use interface. Files and information can be easily organized into clear areas. It is also great to be able to access via a browser on any computer.
What do you dislike about the product?
My least favorite aspect of blackboard is the number of clicks it can take to navigate between items. Also, it would be great if you could copy and paste formatting from a word process like word in a smooth and clean manner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our organization uses Blackboard as a learning management system. It is a great central location to teach courses, serves as a central location for the dispersing of information, and great for both residential and distance courses.

It is a great, versatile LMS with options to customize. Additionally, Blackboard is easy to learn and use.

What do you like best about the product?
Basic navigation using folder system such as a computer operating system. Little to no learning curve for someone who uses computers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not an intuitive design for developing content, such as no drag and drop options for content or no visualization of designed structure.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
24/7 access to content and material regardless of geographic location of users.

The technology and analytics. It is very easy to use. You can create discussion boards and collaborate via chat.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a little slow at times, and the phone app can be confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a possible data notebook that our professors and faculty can utilize.

Be patient, it takes time to learn, but once you do, you got it!

Great multi tool program with features.

Not very integrated with all classrooms that use the program

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is pretty user-friendly. Our IT department uploads students to classes, so from the user perspective, it's simple to use. You can add test and exams for students to complete via multiple choice, and the system automatically grades them for you. They also have a great platform discussion board threads.
What do you dislike about the product?
While our IT department does upload student users to classrooms, it can be hard to navigate when a student is not listed because they signed up for a course too late. I also wish there was an option for video chatting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps manage students that are enrolled in online training programs or classes (online or in-person). It also helps with grading and seeing who has completed training requirements.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider using Blackboard if there is technical support at your institution or company that can support technical issues. Blackboard is great, but a part of my experience is due to the fact that I don't have to troubleshoot technical issues myself.

What do you like best about the product?
This is an organized infrastructure for displaying of information in an easy delivery system. Makes classroom delivery online easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Accessibility - but this is mostly due to our own VPN infrastructure and requirements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for delivering training materials and examining metrics related to that data.

Works great in tandem with Training materials and media distribution.
Black Board Course Management
What do you like best about the product?
You can assign different students to groups for homework and project submissions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dropbox folder is not very user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for managing all of my courses.
Blackboard Virtual Experience
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to be in a group without having to be there in person. The mobile app is very easy to use and does a great job at keeping track of my meetings or classes that I attend.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not too much, the app is very smooth and the use of open source is great. From a business end the cost can be quite high. There was some issues when trying to upgrade/update. It does seem to run smoother on Firefox and safari than google chrome still. Not sure why. It can appear to be a "clunky" operation in comparison to its rivals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps get people to meetings/gatherings who usually cannot get to the same place at the same time. Very efficient. Blackboard seems to require more processing to move data and documents, and more steps to join and add files. It needs to be a smoother operation for Blackboard to last longer. It must or services like Canvas will make Blackboard obsolete.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Must have patience. If you don't and Blackboard does not upgrade itself, then Blackboard will be useless.

Makes access to syllibi easy and great way to ask questions and start discussion groups

Slow on mobile devices. A lot of time consuming updates

Was looking for best way to get info across to wide audience and to track use. Worked well for users and admins.
