Great software with complex capabilities.
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is very easy to use for multiple functions. I am able to upload documents, sort them, customize the look and feel of my coursepage, add links, and update grades all in one place. I am also able to message students right in the platform. It's a very integrated platform that's easy to use and allows me to do multiple things in one, convenient place.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard's design is a bit outdated. The platform itself could look a little more modern. Also, I have experienced some technical glitches in the past.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard allows me to perform my job as a teacher with ease. It allows me to keep all of my course documents, assignments, grades, and everything else that I need in one place. It's also extremely customizable, so I can alter it to fit my needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would definitely recommend this software. I have previously used other platforms such as Angel and this is by far the best.

Works, but could be more intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to communicate with, and delivery material to, my students.
What do you dislike about the product?
I hate the way some of the commands and menus are very counter-intuitive. You have to consult "help" often because you'll need to do things, and it's not at all obvious how to do it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard makes it very simple to communicate with students, get info to them, and they can use it to collaborate and work independently. I do like having a centralized platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you keep the Help section handy! My university is now making the switch to Canvas. I'm sure a lot of this is about bottom line, but I would imagine some of it is about ease of use and features, too.

In 10 minutes I was able to setup a Blackboard Learn instance. In the past this would take hours of OS installation, Oracle install, then getting all the pieces in the right places. This services makes developing apps for Blackboard Learn a breeze.

User-friendly from student and faculty perspective
What do you like best about the product?
The user interface is very simple and straight-forward. I used it from both the student and instructor perspectives, and both were very easy and not at all glitch.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once in awhile, I would have issues watching or uploading video to my accounts, but most of the time, this was easily fixed by making a second attempt to watch or upload the media.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard gives students and instructors a great opportunity to pose questions or connect with other members of the course. Blackboard is simple and straightforward to use. As an instructor, I sought out a short training, and I felt the software was easy to use, but I know there was probably much more I could have done with it than I actually did. It is a great system for very tech savvy and not-so-tech-savvy individuals.

The layout is very friendly for students, and is very intuitive. The speed at which the system operates is good as well, and the number of features for teachers to reach out to their students is quite good.
What do you dislike about the product?
The amount of back-end processing can be taxing at times.

Grading, course materials, and employee training documentation.

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard has a lot of functionality, add-ins, options, customizability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not a big fan of how it handles files that are uploaded. The biggest drawback, though, is that it doesn't integrate well with enrollment management software (or at least our IT folks don't know how to make it work)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bb allows me to stay in contact with my students and push content out as needed.

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard cuts unnecessary paperwork out of the classroom environment which not only makes it a green solution, but also one that helps busy students who are prone to lose or misplace important documents. Also, the task of building online course for most colleges and institutions can be really time consuming. Blackboard provides administrators with a robust set of tools to quickly copy over existing courses or even make new ones from scratch.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes logging in and out was a little buggy, but other than that everything was good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it at SJSU as a TA to help my students access their courses and login to see their grades and submit their assignments. Cuts a lot of paperwork and helps students do their work from their home. A great tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Once you use blackboard, it is really hard to switch to any other software. Would definitely recommend it to all the professors and institutes reading this.

I liked how everything was easy to access and I did not need much instruction on how to use it

There wasn't much I didn't like. I used it with little to no issues

New and Impressed User
What do you like best about the product?
I just started teaching a course and was shown how to use Blackboard Learn. I was impressed at how user friendly course creation was from the start. Timed release of content to students was an awesome characteristic.
At the beginning of a new semester, I found it remarkably easy to copy my entire course content from the previous semester. This made updating the course for the new year such a breeze.

I have had some older colleagues that have struggled with navigation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard eliminates the need for printed materials in an ahe of technology. All of my presentations can be uploaded and my students are able to view them from their laptops or tablets in class.

I like being able to see all assignments and grades on this website. I like how it has an easy access.

I do not like how all past classes are still on the blackboard page.
