Both as a student and administrator, this platform is pretty great
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of communication is wonderful. Uploading documents is super easy. And the notifications/alerts are super helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Blackboard Drive is a little clunky for MAC.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is a great way to keep training documents in order for employees. We area able to sign up for trainings and all of our information is kept safely in blackboard by course instead of the old email only or in person only information.

I have enjoyed my experience using blackboard for almost 3 years.
What do you like best about the product?
The way that the classes are listed makes them easy to find.
What do you dislike about the product?
The home page of a class can be cumbersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Access to classes for students.
Blackboard was a good solution at the time

It was an early LMS that was super easy to use semester to semester, as long as you didn't change content.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was very difficult to change content in a course without editing every individual item.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main business problem we were solving with it was gradebook and secure messaging for FERPA compliance.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are other more modern LMS options out there, including Canvas and Google Classroom, that are probably better options than BB.

User-friendly interface; most students seem familiar with the platform.

Persistent login issues over the course of multiple years

Providing a one-stop location for students and professors to access all their course materials, including grades

It's great when it works, but be careful about login issues.
Blackboard as an Adjunct
What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard makes it easy for me to post articles and communicate with my students.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes banner can freeze up on you but other than that I enjoy the software.

communication with students. Articles that are used for discussion that I dont have to print out and they are available for students to view at any time.

Their app gives your instant notification when grades or assignments are poster. I really like their class schedule option as well.

I'd recommend you try their new app. It's been completely restructures and looks so much better. You should also give their chatting option a try.

What do you like best about the product?
It is very user friendly. It is easy to update the grades of students as well as get access to grades right away.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a lot of outages. It was down for more than 3 times last semester and we had no access to it what so ever for more than 5-6 hours.

College courses, course material and grades.

It is a good tool to use as a very user friendly and easy to access at any point of time. Would definitely recommend for students and universities to adapt it.
Makes Learning Easy and Accessible
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Blackboard is that it's easy to use through our Cyberactive portal. All course information is available and accessible to the student from the very first screen. Blackboard is also useful for helping our in-class students learn online interaction skills/abilities through technology-blended courses.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Blackboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are helping to make learning easy and accessible for our students while keeping things streamlined for instructors/professors. Blackboard is also very useful when it comes to onboarding/training new employees - we use Blackboard to facilitate learning, which can be completed at the employee's pace/comfort level.
Helpful for training courses
What do you like best about the product?
Helpful intranet site for sharing materials from training courses. As an employee of a higher education institution, I use Blackboard to participate in and successfully complete HR courses and leadership programs. Useful repository for notes/slides/discussions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't load well on a mobile device - tried with my iPad and eventually gave up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Use it to participate in training/HR courses. Helpful because I can complete them remotely, rather than having to go to an on-site/in person session. Also allows access after the fact - ie. find materials for future reference.
Not As Good As It Could Be
What do you like best about the product?
I do like the ease of grading and posting.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the hoops I have to jump through.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is an effective and efficient tool for teaching. I use the assessments, journals, discussion, video and media capabilities, and all sorts of tools. It makes teaching hybrid a breeze and organization of a class is so easy! I love the tools offered, the resources that are built in, and the way we can post announcements on Blackboard, like if there were a scary situation on campus, we could inform students through BB. It's good overall, but could use some updating and be made easier to use from the instructor side. The benefit is the ease of setting up, running a course, tracking information, and responding to students.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is certainly useful and it has a lot of neat options and benefits. I would definitely recommend using blackboard. Just make sure you get TRAINED! There is so much you can do with it, but if you don't know about it, you aren't using it to it's full ability. Look for free online videos or your organization to get training. I like that Blackboard tracks EVERY CORRESPONDENCE that is sent through BB. It certainly helps when you have students who are dishonest. I don't like that it isn't a more user-friendly interface, but I guess something with this much capability wouldn't be easy to make... well easy. THE BEST PART, you can copy your class into a new course! You can select what you want to move and what you don't, which means you aren't constantly starting from scratch!
