Deliver quality classes online

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard allows me to create online class portals that engage students in learning. The platform allows me to customize my classes to include a number of multimedia content options. Blackboard also allows me to grade and provide feedback to my students in an easy to use, timely format.
What do you dislike about the product?
I know that there is some added features to the software. Specifically user data. I wish it was easier to obtain user data from the course. I also dont like that the format/color options are sometimes limited, however I am sure if I took the time I could learn to handle both of the issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard allows me to reach a larger number of students due to the online format. It also helps with the deliver of in-person classes because you can upload and maintain course content for students. It also saves time because I can administer tests and other assignments online and do not have to physically be anywhere.

Blackboard for Teaching

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard alerts students when they have an assignment due and lets teachers know when items need to be graded.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't figured out how the system can grade multiple choice quizzes automatically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to give quizzes online rather than using class time.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Using Blackboard gives instructors the benefit of assigning work online. You are able to set date and time-frames for when assignments are available and when they are due. Students receive alerts when assignments are posted and professor are alert when assignments "need grading." The grading system is setup so that grades can be exported out to appropriate site to be sent to registrar. You can post syllabi, assignments guidelines, and send group emails.

Blackboard excellent for all your class needs

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard offers a wide range of options for the educational sector, including customized pages for each class, the ability to duplicate an entire class' page (if you have multiple sections for the same class), and the ability to have students submit their work via SafeAssign.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard is still mostly html-based, and therefore does not have as many smooth edges as other software programs. It has a limited number of options for fonts, graphics, and other visuals. However, it is sufficient enough to get the job done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard enables professors to communicate with their students using one platform. Plus, it interfaces with the SSO of our other software systems, which enables students to have one username and password for all of the systems they interact with.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great for universities to use for all their educational needs, particularly classes, faculty/staff senates, etc.

Blackboard-solid software

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard has been easy for me to use. It is a very familiar software that I used for a number of years in education. I used it as a student and also as an instructor for some time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Seems somewhat outdated at this point. Was useful at the time though. Didn't have any issues when I was using the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it for classroom management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would do your research on other products out there.

No too bad of a program have recently made quite a few changes that help

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can view all of the course at once in a very easy format so it is easy to switch from on to the other when uploading or adding information/submitting discussions. Also makes for utilizing the system for online classes much more feasible.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a bit distracting with the number of features that show up and make it convoluted to find what you are looking for. Could somehow streamline some of the other options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Utilized as a way to distribute information to students about what is going on in course as well as provide a platform for questions asked and ways to interact with students in real time even if it isn't during the course timeslot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Streamline some of the additional features to make the homepage less busy and distracting. Doing so will help with the ease of use for both student and professor so as to not lose track of the important features or so people are able to follow when things are due and where to upload information.

Great platform for universities employees and students!

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy this platform is to navigate through and how my institution customized it for the use of students and employees at our university. I like how everything is in one place and it makes it easy to access mobile too with the app.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes this website functions really slow for me and I have to close and re-open windows to get it to perform quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard helps the institution with students having easy access to announcements, courses, grades, university calendar and much more. This platform is great because our faculty/employees such as myself can do our online training on it as well. The courses are listed out for us and we can complete it right from the platform. The app is also great because I can access it on the go.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
IF you are looking for something that is easy to navigate through and keep track of tasks, this is a great platform.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the accessibility, it is fairly easy to use as well to create lessons, modules, tests, and upload files such as videos, images and documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
This only issue I have with blackboard is the bugs that often occurs, it sometimes shut down for no reason for hours and it's inconvenient when classes are only online. It also sometime logs you off fairly quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Online classes and trainings are available through Blackboard.

Blackbaud for Accounts Payable

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Blackbaud is that it is super user-friendly. Each module (they are separate) are also user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike the most about Blackbaud is the 1099 function. It is convoluted and hard to follow. I wish they would simplify this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Blackbaud for Education Edge and for Financial Edge. We use it for collecting money from student families, we use it to pay our bills. We use it to manage our general ledger. The benefits of this program is that everything is there you just have to change the module.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please make sure you weigh your pro and cons especially with the different modules. Some do not interface well.

Basic and Functional

  • October 30, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I think one of the main benefits of Blackboard is that it's been around for a long time, so many people have used it and are used to it. Some of the faculty at the university I work at have been using Blackboard since it came online, and thus they are very familiar with it in a way that they may not ever be with other, newer technologies. For this reason I think it's very functional for a wide variety of users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite recent updates, I don't think it's as slick or professional looking as some of the other similar user interfaces. It still feels a bit dated, despite its newer appearance. This doesn't put me off because I've been using Blackboard for almost 15 years, but I can imagine when you're using it with students in higher education or with newer employees, it may feel rather "old school" for them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easy to customize for each individual's login, so they're not seeing a bunch of extraneous general information that may not be useful to them. This makes the interface feel clean and easy to navigate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I don't know if I'd say definitively that Blackboard is "headed in the right direction" because I'm not sure it's exactly headed anywhere. It doesn't seem to be changing and adapting by adding a bunch of new features, but on the other hand I don't think it needs to.
