SO old, but still useful for university classes

  • June 01, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The discussion board allows for easy collaboration outside of the classroom. Threads help keep track of the conversation and start new ones.
What do you dislike about the product?
SUCH an old and clunky interface. It just needs tremendously updated!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy dissemination of class materials, ability to archive and copy past classes for future use, virtual collaboration. While the emailing users is a more difficult process than needed, it makes it "simple" to differentiate between users that needs to be included.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really look around for all of the best options considering what looks most up to date. However, with SO many students already familiar with blackboard, that makes implementation much easier for your community.

Blackboard more than just for class shells.

  • May 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard has so many great features available to it's users. Blackboard creates easy to use corse shells that allow professors to provide reading material, assign homework, administer tests and quizzes, along with providing practice questions. Additionally, Blackboard allows administrators the option to provide secure swipe card access to any and all buildings they see fit. For example, residence halls can only allow residents and staff of that building, while the library will only allow students in. This feature provides the necessary security students and parents want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard, like any online software, requires regular maintenance. However, it seems like blackboard requires more scheduled maintenance than any other software. Some time maintenance was scheduled multiple times in one month, thus limiting the time students could work on their classes. Additionally these outages usually affect external card swipe door accesses, thus preventing anyone from entering a building.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard helps fix multiple issues, with one simple software. Blackboard provides classroom course shells while also providing door security.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're just looking for one feature or multiple, Blackboard may have ahave thesolution for you.

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard provides a central location for classes to meet and discuss course information.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you want to go "Home" in Blackboard, it opens a new tab every time and I have to close the previous tab to make sure it doesn't delete any future work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving the issues of having training and quizzes in one central location.

Blackboard as a Student & TA User

  • May 08, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very simple format, easy to find grades and to enter grades. I liked that I was abe to use the same account as a student and a TA.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occational submission issues, and the app could still use a bit of work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing grading information with students. Students have a much better idea of where they are at within the course,
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I honestly cannot imagine being a student or a TA without Blackboard. Blackboard was the constant throughout my 5 years as an undergrad and graduate student, as well as a TA for over 500 students.

great interface for schools

What do you like best about the product?
Blackboard is so easy to use and navigate, as opposed to other academic platforms I have used in the past. The part I love the most is how easy it is to access grades - whether it be just one or all grades for the semester.
What do you dislike about the product?
The aesthetics could use some work but even that is a stretch. I love Blackboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of communication with others in a cohort, easy to learn how to use and navigate.

Everything in one place!

What do you like best about the product?
I love that this is (or can be) so well organized. Lectures, assignments, discussions, and grades all in one spot. Definitely a necessity in the digital age.
What do you dislike about the product?
Blackboard can be kind of complicated due to all of the features. Sometimes it can be hard to find options and can take many clicks to find where you need to be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Blackboard could be seen as an economical resource, as it cuts down on printing for lectures and assignments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend time organizing your content before allowing access. Get to know the features.

All of My Professor Use This

  • May 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how all of my classes assignments are on one dashboard - You can see everything, from grades to comments, to posts and discussions.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing really I dislike about it. It's hard to read assignments / find assignments if the professor doesn't know how to use it and puts it in the wrong place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves any confusion as to what assignments are due for each class. I'm a pretty forgetful person and each assignment shows a due date, which is great because now I don't need to remember when things are due.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I definitely recommend Blackboard to students and teachers because it is the easiest way to submits assignments and grades. If students have a question for the professor, they can write it on the forum and other students can see what is posted (just in case the students had the same question). Blackboard is pretty easy to use and I don't usually have a problem finding my assignments on here.

My view on Blackboard

  • May 03, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to access different categories and scroll through. It's also easy to learn how to use if you're new to blackboard. I have noticed the changes over the years and I can say Blackboard has drastically improved. I like the discussion board and being able to discuss topics with numerous people. I also like the accessibility of being able to take quizzes and know my grades right away after I take them. I also like how you can incorporate turnitin.com or plagiarizing websites to make sure people do not plagiarize or cheat.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the Blackboard app and how it makes you sign in every time you want to login. It gets frustrating and annoying when I have to do that. I gave up and just use Blackboard on my laptop. I feel like the Announcements section also become to cluttered and ends up being hard to read if there are too many. Creating your own profile and adding a picture to it was also difficult to figure out on my own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to gain knowledge, take quizzes, and learn from others through the discussion board. I realized that it's a great site for others to learn together and it's convenient as well. If someone does not have time to learn in person, this site is great for learning online.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I definitely would recommend this to students & colleagues because it's a great website to use.
