The definitive platform for container orchestration

  • August 02, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
It makes managing and deploying your containers much easier. It eases communication between containers. It also allows you to scale up and down easily.
What do you dislike?
The learning curve for Kubernetes can be a bit steep. It can be a lot of work to use it for small teams an projects and to be fair most small projects don't need the power of Kubernetes. However I do wish that there was a "Kubernetes Lite" version that could be used to deploy simple projects and allow you to grow into full blown K8s, if necessary.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used it to solve container orchestration. It took a while to get it set up but once it was up and running, our deployments were seamless and it was simple to maintain the infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Unless you have a very good reason, don't manage your own Kubernetes installation. Use GCP, AWS, or Azure to manage your Kubernetes.

K8S - not just a container orchestrator

  • July 30, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
As my title states, k8s is not just a docker orchestrator. But has given us a lot of interesting solutions to difficult problems. Be it micro-services based architecture or using kubernetes cloud for spawning Jenkins slaves. It's useful in all places. A large ecosystem is built around k8s and it's enjoying support all round with large list of vendors.
What do you dislike?
Complexity around setup/managing, can be only limitation. Though it's being minimised by different wrappers like Rancher etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving most monolithic applications to micro-services architecture. our Jenkins uses kubernetes to run slave pods on demand. Scalable infrastructure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It may look a large step initially, but will pay in time for sure.

Management of containerised application

  • February 04, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best?
If you need to be sure that your application is up and running very reliably, Kubernetes can support you in this. For example, it allows you to have rolling updates to change your software without downtime.
All major cloud vendors are supporting Kubernetes providing out-of-the-box solutions for it.
What do you dislike?
The transition to Kubernetes can be cumbersome
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Kubernetes, you can run multiple instances of your application simultaneously.CronJobs allows you to automate database backups, application upgrades, sending emails, etc.Pods allow you to colocate multiple containers in a single environment, enabling communication and resource sharing between them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If u have more containerised applications to manage , please try this one
