A powerful Fortinet authenticator tool!
What do you like best about the product?
-Various authentication methods are supported
-easy to set up and understand
-security policies can be changes as per requirements.
- light-weight in terms of file size hence takes less space

What do you dislike about the product?
A bit expensive with these features. It contains so many bugs and needs frequent updation by Forti which seems annoying at times. Rest apart, it is a great authenticator
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Users under our organisation's network are autheticated by FortAuthenticator. So, it helps us there to maintain security.

Great for MFA
What do you like best about the product?
Secure and reliable MFA for a Windows AD domain.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be difficult to uninstall the client. Have had to run a repair before getting the option to uninstall.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Need to have MFA for compliance.
we use fortiauthenticator for sslvpn management with active directory and MFA.

What do you dislike about the product?
the product can do many things and in a different way that can become complex in the follow-up.
the licensing system is also complex because depending on the choice of implementation it can quickly become very complex

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
this allows us a centralized management of the authentications of the different systems we operate, such as VPNSSL authentication, web portal, 802.1X, SAML and MFA for all types of accounts.
FortiAuthenticator is a great security tool
What do you like best about the product?
FortiAuthenicator allows my users to quickly self-authenticate using the mobile app when connecting to our internal Citrix infrastructure from external endpoints.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there's a lag after a user authenticates before they get a response in the app. But that's a pretty minor nag, and security is rarely convenient! So not a big deal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
FortiAuthenticator helps prevent non-trusted parties from hacking into our internal resources using our external Citrix gateway. So mainly security peace-of-mind.

Simple and reliable to use. One push of a button and the code is there

It is difficult to integrate to other SAML platforms.

Easy to understand. Easy to teach others about this Application.

To understand the behavior of the application, we need to know first basic networking fundamentals. Also, learning about FortiAutenticator is expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing via video on demand.
Strong Fortinet network stack integration. (But about that MFA app . . .)
What do you like best about the product?
If you are exposing Fortinet product authentication services or building a zero-trust architecture with Fortinet's stack, this is not optional.
WAN-facing services should maintain a single posture around password and MFA rules, access policies (geo, exposed services), etc. FortiAuthenticator is an easy lift compared to integrating a 3rd party product.

What do you dislike about the product?
Google and Microsoft provide a large built-in TOTP user base.
The push to use the Forti app for MFA is an adoption hindrance. I now have one more MFA app to deploy, whereas previously adopted cloud services provide a pre-installed option on BYOD mobile devices.
I'd rather have a configurable option to incorporate an existing TOTP token-generating app that can easily be paired with FortiAuthenticator services.

Security is not an optional feature. If Fortinet product authentication is exposed to the WAN, this should already be deployed.

FortiAuthenticator - making life easy
What do you like best about the product?
The size of the app is very useful as it does not take up too much valuable space. The fact that is supports multiple platforms such as iOS and Andriod is an obvious bonus. The Firewall is also a grat addition.
What do you dislike about the product?
A number of the fortigate products seem to have bugs and require updates which can be a little frustration for many people. Also tend to be wary of the updates as soon as they come out
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The security and the ease of integration with other applications assisting with security and those aspects of the network are critical - it can integrate well with other products

What do you like best about the product?
Provide a super security network remote and internal access!

Works like a charm, so far so good. nothing wrong , simple.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now with all the remote work due to the pandemic with FortiAuthenticator, I'm been able to set a secure remote access and at the same time feel secure with all the workers accessing my network.
Well featured but documentation lacking
What do you like best about the product?
The fortiAuthenticator supports many different authentication methods, RADIUS, LDAP and captive portal, to name a few. I like the fact you can use this platform as a physical or virtual device.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support around this product is lacking because the product supports many different authentication options; the documentation doesn't cover half of these. To get captive portals working, I had to contact support and have them walk me through the setup process
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fortigate itself doesn't support radius accounting sessions therefore, we had to purchase the Fortiauthenticator to handle these requests. While this was an extra cost it removes this overhead from the Fortigate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask for a trial before you purchase. This is an extremely complicated device. It's very feature-packed however the interface is a bit outdated.
