All the best bits of open source software without any of the bad bits
What do you like best about the product?
Kafka is an awesome piece of technology that we can use in production, at scale, with confidence because Instaclustr has taken the hard work of managing Kafka out of our hands. Things will always go wrong, but I have complete trust in Instaclustr to fix problems with our Kafka cluster before they hurt us, I have this trust, because they have saved us in the past and I know they will keep doing so into the future. Easily one of the best infrastructure decisions we've made.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've had a couple of issues hooking up Dynatrace (our monitoring tool).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our entire platform is message-driven, we planned it this way and have built it from the ground up with Kafka as the backbone of our message delivery. It is a vital cog in our platform and we couldn't be happier with the result so far!

Excellent Kafka service provider
What do you like best about the product?
They are very quick to respond to issues and technical requests that we need performed on our Kafka clusters. They do a great job with our clusters as we have not had serious issues with it that wasn't our own doing.
We also heavily poll their metrics API for visibility on our end and it's all worked great.

What do you dislike about the product?
None really - there's a small security risk in that we need to hand over IAM keys so they can perform things in our AWS account but that's something we can't work around.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not spending engineering time to fix kafka issues.

Reliable service, some scope for improvement
What do you like best about the product?
The team supporting the service has a high level of expertise. Deep technical questions are answered without hassle, and communication is straightforward with them. There is a good level of trust to the Instaclustr team from the team I manage (technical consultants, architects).
What do you dislike about the product?
Availability of the team is not always good - hard to work between CET and AEST timezones. Sense of urgency is sometimes lacking as they are not exposed to the end users / client.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Production environment is managed by Instaclustr. Despite the extra cost associated with this, reliability is improved by having a dedicated specialist team and customer confidence is improved.

Managed Queue with user friendly UIs to browse through the queues and know the status, congestion or issues.

Not everything related to Kafka is provided out of the box from instaclustr. The documentations between Kafka and Instaclustr can be confusing since features do not sync 100%.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a web application with features like ticketing and payments, events and notifications. Instaclustr helps us deliver those events in a reliable way mostly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your business logic is simple straightforward like payment integrations, Instaclustr is an easy choice. In addition, your company should benefit a lot from the quick resolution of any events.
