  • October 02, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the use of gossip protocol in a data center and watches and handlers feature in consul. Also I appreciate the UI to be so extensive
What do you dislike about the product?
Not yet a wide community that uses consul. So the support remains in a small circle. Moreover I would like to have more integration of consul with CICD tools like jenkins, etc
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving the problem of centralization configuration management in my organization. Right now we do not have any solution for centrally maintaining configurations for a application distributed on multiple cloud providers and on premise. We are right now doing a POC to explore all features on consul. We are also using it as a backend for Hashicorp Vault

Great Distributed Service Mesh for Modern Programming

  • March 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite features of Consul is its Service Discovery and Distributed Configuration. As an application developer, having such a seamless service discovery tool allows me to focus on the business logic of my code rather than which instance of a server I need to interface with. The Key/Value configuration is also amazing for feature flags in my applications, as well as common config that multiple server instances need to share. The integration of Consul with Spring Boot is also a great plus, as it makes application development even easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
None so far. Keep on adding more helpful features to the Admin UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using the Distributed Key/Value configuration, we are able to change properties on the fly that our applications use for business logic/rules. By not needing to write new code and deploy new instances of our applications, the customer experience is not interrupted.
