Dev Ops lead leveraging Jenkins for CI

  • August 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Whenever there is an issue, we can get the support asap. When we migrated from AEDC Jenkins to OnPrem Jenkins couple of years back, we had to migrate all the jobs, Jenkins support worked wirh us closely.
What do you dislike about the product?
Recreating the actual issue by the cloudbees engineer because Amex has a complex setup and thousands of builds. It is not easy to recreate the issue easily from any environment so we had to provide the logs, meet through webex to explain the actual issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an enterprise team, it is important to maintain the system up and resolve the issues.
We have many templates created for each functionality, we are moving towards Jenkins pipeline to make the workflow easy anbd customizable for the end users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pipeline in Jenkins is preferable than other pipelines.

Support when you need it

  • August 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When dealing with cloudbees support my team and I have been overly impressed by the quick response and escalation of cases to the correct department. With the fast responses we are able to resolve issues the same day and continue to be productive when with most companies we wait a day or two just to hear back.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think there's anything we dislike about the cloudbees support as the only cases which we have not been resolved have been due to using third party plugins that have known bugs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been working with CloudBees support to help us move our outdated freestyle jobs into pipeline and support for bugs that we find. Having a fast turn around has been huge for us so we're not keeping developers waiting even longer for build results.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Support is quick and also provides training which is a huge help when on-boarding new people

Cloudbees support has been amazing helping us move forward in our CI CD Journey

What do you like best about the product?
The quick responses that we get from support and their willingness to work through some of the challenges that we have internally within our organization has been amazing. They are even able to help us implement some of our crazy ideas are we move forward in our journey to real CI CD self service
What do you dislike about the product?
Really looking for faster support for more seamless repository options. currently we are utilizing gitlab and need builds to be spun up on the fly. We know that the functionality is on the horizon, but want to make sure that support for the solution like gitlabs being integrated into SDM (didnt see it on the early roadmap for SDM)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
really having a self service model at our company. They are helping us realize our goal of allowing development teams the ability to spin up their own jenkins builds without coming to our team so that we can work on automating more pipelines

Cloudbees really wants us to succeed in our adoption of Cloudbees Core

  • August 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The cloudbees organization really is interested in our successful adoption of their products. From the great customer success management to their professional services, we have had great support from them as we roll out Cloudbees Core to our organization.

Cloudbees Core itself offers some great improvements for my team as we manage jenkins services across multiple teams, some of them internal and some of them external. Role based access controls, shared agents, and multi-master orchestration provide an excellent balance of resource sharing and isolation for our organizational needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the syntax of pipelines but can see past that because they are a massive improvement over the old ui-based way of configuring jobs. I'm also not a fan of the pervasive use of plugins within the Jenkins community but this is something I can discourage within my organization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Access control for contractors vs internal users, shared knowledge of best practices through shared libraries. We are also working towards better team autonomy with their Core on kubernetes features which is going to help my team and others.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have any need for enterprise grade jenkins, use core. If you need help with implementing jenkins across a large organization use core, and use cloudbees professional services. You won't regret it.
