Splunk Review
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy being able to not only view the logs but identify the personnel that made the changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do feel there is more to be desired with the search function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to have a true centralized system in which can capture logs on all our network devices.

Simple easy to use analytics. Visually very pretty and easy to navigate.

Current Splunkbase apps need help. Most of the apps simply don't work out of the box and are more templates.

TCO, Systems monitoring, Fraud, internal fraud, etc.

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is very flexible tool which helps our team with effective logging and troubleshooting. It also helps with amazing dashboarding which helps our Business analaysts and Product Owners
What do you dislike about the product?
Licensing is a little expensive. Support and documentation can be improved too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use is organization wide and it is used by multipla teams - Devs, product, Ops, Management.
Automation is also a great feature.

How can you not have Splunk!
What do you like best about the product?
Splunk allows access to all the operational data. It lets you correlate events and set up alerts to help with future issues. It allows for metric tracking and analysis and provides easy to use dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dashboard design is restrictive. The layout is pretty fixed unless you have admin rights to create style sheets. The UI only lets you do half of the options, you must go into the simple xml for full range of options. Creating drill-ins is not intuitive. Limited out-of-the-box charting options for time series.

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is so easy to use that you will find yourself using it as the first step in every project or problem solving venture. The speed in which answers are realized is amazing and invaluable to fast paced teams or companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is never enough time to implement all of the ideas we have for using Splunk! (this is an 'us' problem, not a Splunk problem)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Splunk to identify , predict, and resolve issues across multiple products. We are also using Splunk to track items across multiple products, databases, external sites, and files in a easy to understand format for every level of user.

Take the leap! At least download the free version and get an idea of just how much Splunk can help you.
The jack of all trades...if you want it to be
What do you like best about the product?
As I said in my title "The jack of all trades...if you want it to be" Splunk is so powerful that sometimes it's hard to know where to start! Start small and don't overwhelm yourself, you'll quickly come to appreciate Splunk and all it can do.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many small and annoying bugs. I can work around all of them, but sometimes I burn an entire day figuring out how.

I like the most is i can see log anytime without even touching prod environment.

Nothing which i can say about Splunk. I really like splunk and i don't have any suggestion for improvement.

Splunk solves all my IT problems
What do you like best about the product?
If my data is in Splunk then I can answer questions almost at the speed of thought. We have not had a use case where Splunk failed to achieve the results. The quality of the software is high. When someone says Splunk gave me the wrong answer, I usually find that they asked the wrong question.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost model is prohibitive for some use cases.
