Easy to setup. Almost available on all hosting site, even bundled on shared hosting.

No JSON data support in previous versions. Scalability issues. Postgresql has better concurrency and more data types.

It can handle pretty much 90% of the use cases. Cost effective and good support and documentation.

There are a lot of apps that use MySQL, easy to setup, manage and connect from different apps. Easy to backup and recover.
What do you dislike about the product?
Char conversions when using other than UTF-8. Manipulation of media objects (Audio, video, images). Backup not part of the system, need to use third part to make it automatic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We run most of our systems in MySQL. Sales, accounting, web pages, POS, HR.

What do you like best about the product?
I'm not a complete expert when it comes to databases, but I've been using MySQL for about 4 years now and I've not had an issue, and it has worked really well for satisfying my needs. MySQL is great especially if are new to learning databases and you're looking to develop websites that requires the use of a database.
What do you dislike about the product?
Compromise on the Security, but I haven't faced any problems so far.

CRUD operations, web development is what I use it for. It's stable and does the job very well.

I can’t say that this database is the easiest and more user friendly out there in the market.

Simply syntax, supported by most major software frameworks. Scalable enough for large datasets. Nice administrative tools like workbench.

It's a great solution if you need a simple relational database. Postgres is another good option. Before deciding on relational vs. NoSql make sure to consider the nature of the data and your access patterns.

MySQL provides a variety of storage engines with different properties that match a wide range of business needs. It has a good performance and strong scalability.

Replication setup is difficult to set up. Also, sometimes tables can get corrupted and it is not easy to fix
