I love the ability to edit/update data live in a visual environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
The latency in obtaining data - which is a combination of internet speed and the platform itself.

What do you like best about the product?
Long ago we used to be an all Microsoft SQL shop, but it got expensive upgrading to the latest versions all the time, and having to dedicate a server to running it got expensive, as we often had to upgrade the server too. It was just big and clunky. By comparison, MySQl was inexpensive, svelte, and easy to use and deploy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tools and automated database management tools are not as strong as MS SQL
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Web based databaaes, low cost. Easy deployment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out! Inexpensive to deploy, both windows and linux versions

An excellent product, easy to use

What do you like best about the product?
Without a doubt it is the easy and simple use. Powerful data manager There is already a lot of information on the internet and support for doubts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The limitations of the software. When you think about managing large amounts of data, it is no longer functional.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having a tool that can be used quickly, very lightly (Mb weight) and very easy to obtain supports those business needs in which a data and information manager is needed that is easy to connect to other databases, not importing if the databases are with other brands of database managers.

MySQL is a great open source relational database

  • December 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL has improved in many ways over the years. It is now a full relational database that is open source.
What do you dislike about the product?
MySQL has many options that sometimes are deprecated after you started using them. It would be better if they wouldn't do this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used MySQL for many years on many different types of websites. It has always performed for me when I needed it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need an open source relational database give MySQL a try.

    Financial Services

Fastest out of the box database solution with wide support.

  • December 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL is the core of any LAMP stack web solution. It has wide industry support and simple mechanics. Recently, there has been new competition in this space, but I would argue that they require more maintenance and internal knowledge. If you are deploying a db solution without a support contract, MySQL is hard to beat.
What do you dislike about the product?
MySQL is a quick and easy solution, but careful attention is required to insure that the db is optimized for the application. Small-scale applications work great with MySQL out of the box, however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main benefit to MySQL comes from it's wide adoption. It is very easy to manage and community knowledge is high.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
MySQL is very reliable. I have used it for a dozen or so websites. The only out of the box limitation comes from scalabilty issues. These are easily remedied by plugins and additional hardware and configuration. But keep in mind, that if you are expecting high traffic application design is very important when implementing MySQL.
