MySQL Relational Database for Web Applications

  • October 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL being an opensource Relational Database Management System, provides ease of use. MySQL has cross platform support on which implementation and integration would not be a problem. I like the ease of connection to other programming languages and also management of large data.

It is best partnered with other open source products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Though MySQL has many features it isn't a compliant for full SQL standards, though there are workarounds but still it would be better to adhere to SQL standards. Sometimes when query gets too large and the system is using sub selects, it is being of very slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company is looking for a good relational database management system that would meet the needs of the company, it should be low cost in the initial stage so not to incur so much costing compared to other solutions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend MySQL as the Relational Database Management System for small to medium enterprises. The best open source relational database management system.

What do you like best about the product?
MySQL has been a resilient and reliable database platform to run our website. Our company has grown its website into a tool that runs our business, and we rely on MySQL to keep our data accessible and secure.

While the open source platform has served us well for years, we worry with the acquisition by Oracle that the future of MySQL could be in jeopardy.

As a small but growing company we needed a database to run our business but at a low cost.

The Solid Choice for Almost All Database Needs

  • October 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using MySQL since 2005 as a backend for web appliations. MySQL's long history makes it a solid choice for most database needs. I've never had an issue with MySQL; it's very reliable. Almost all programming languages have connectors and the administration tools available are plentiful.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's not much I don't like about MySQL. It would be nice if it had a better native Boolean type and JSON support like Postgresql.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
MySQL is very versatile and has replaced many other expensive database options.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The ubiquitous nature MySQL lowers the barrier of entry; documentation and examples abound. It may not be the hot new product that everyone is talking about, but it's been time-tested, reliable and has never let me down.
