What do you like best about the product?
Free, open-source database software.
Cross-platform.
Supports advanced features such as database replication.
Preformance is high most of the time.
Easy-to-use tools such as MySQL Workbench.
What do you dislike about the product?
Query can be slow on big tables, or with a lot of joins.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using MySQL in one of our internal web platform, and it fits our requirements perfectly. By using a free, open-source database suite such as MySQL, we saved the cost of license to use a proprietary one like Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
MySQL is the correct choice for a free, open-source database suite for use with web sites, business applications and more. If you are looking for a free, feature-rich & high-performance database suite, try MySQL.

I use MySQL for data processing, cleaning, etc.

  • November 17, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Clean and understandable user interface. Plenty of 3rd party support/interface with popular data visualization, analysis, and processing programs. Very easy to pick up and teach.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are two forms of MySQL you can download. Just the platform OR the platform with all the connections to 3rd party software. Making sure you get the correct one is annoying.

MySQL has significantly speed up our data cleaning and analysis process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's great if you need to interface with other programs.
