A powerful open source software
What do you like best about the product?
1. Postgres is open source and free to use.
2. Postgres is Acid compliant and thus no data is lost.
3. Since PostgreSQL supports JSON field which was not supported by Mysql which we were using before, it has become very easy for us to work with JSON data sets. We can easily query JSON fields using Postgres query language.
4. Postgres also has a very strong community, thus it is very easy for new developers to adapt as they can easily find support online

What do you dislike about the product?
I couldn't find anything to dislike in PostgreSQL till now as it gives me all the features that were required in our web application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Postgres has helped us to store and query JSON fields which was the biggest problem that we were facing with mysql.

Rock Solid stability
What do you like best about the product?
PostgresSQL is one of the most stable and functionally rich open source RDBMS. It performs really well while implementing complex queries. It is also convenient to shift your database architecture into PostgresSQL. Because of its ubiquity, you can find solutions to any issue you might face on the online community. , PostgreSQL is offering an amazing amount of functionality for any database, let alone an open-source project. And in almost every case, the current functionality is just the first part of a long-term roadmap that the developers will continue to follow.
What do you dislike about the product?
PostgreSQL's functionality in areas like Partitioning or query parallelization has been fairly weak. Also it's syntax is a wee bit different than most of the other SQL vendor languages but it's not significantly different.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problem that I am solving with PostgreSQL was to query data for further processing. I was working on generating intelligent reports with data from an Alfresco Architecture whose data resided in a PostgreSQL database. The benefits I observed were, it was free to use and the queries functioned perfectly.
Powerful, Flexible, Database
What do you like best about the product?
I have used this database for a number of years now and have to say it gives one the most bang for one's buck. It is extremely powerful, and flexible with the addons provided, hstore, jsonb, ltree etc. its by default powerful, so if you're looking for a simple database this is not for you. This database is still fairly easy to use, but it leaves out a lot of things that are default to mysql (mariadb)
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the ltree implementation supported dashes so full uuids could be used. Otherwise there isn't really that much to complain about, better support for built in under the hood horizontal sharding would be nice but that would be hugely complicated and probably wouldn't work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our data storage for our whole app is in postgres.

Give it a chance, the cost of learning is worth the power it affords.
A Great Solution To Improve Your Company
What do you like best about the product?
I can neatly organize my work when using this product. I am constantly worried about falling behind if there’s not a personal assistant beside me like this program.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don’t have too many problems with this service. I have only used this product for a short amount of time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company uses this product for better reference and organization of our information that we store for each of our clients.
Solid Database
What do you like best about the product?
I love how you can do everything from command line. I love not having to click around to find things inside of the program
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside i have found is maybe not quite as much info as other databases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using this with scanning devices that we are using Kali Linux on. So with this setup we are able to store the info that we gather checking for vulnerabilities at client sites.
PostgreSQL robust open source database
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of offloading data storage tasks to PostgreSQL is the robustness of the database system, which is equal to any of the commercial systems. The expressiveness of the PostgreSQL is no less than that of commercial offerings, or even of experimental system for that matter.
What do you dislike about the product?
The design seems fairly monolithic compared to newer designs, so the system has a fairly large footprint and there are few options to reduce it. A modular system might be more suitable for today's cloud servers which are extremely compact in size, and demand software that is highly optimized in memory consumption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scientific workflows. The reliability saves lots of headaches when you're running experiments on other parts of the workflow.

I like that when in work my colleagues and I are able to handle large amounts of data on the networks,we have been able to scale and customize the best path for our needs to improve our performance.

What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL is user-friendly and GUI based database which is convenient for students to use. That's the best thing I like about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any dislikes about PostgreSQL, because it's in the best stage of performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Postgresql for my database project in which I saved all the data to be displayed on a PHP based website in PostgreSQL. I was easy to connect between the database and PHP and my project was successful.

For free and open sourced database software, pls use PostgreSQL because it is the best I can recommend for students.
