Powerful and necessary
What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL is easy to like even when sometimes it is not easy to use. Our team likes how the data from vmware is gathered well inside of PostgreSQL and able to used/connected to for other uses and dashboard creation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes users of postgresql dislike how difficult it can be to access the data inside of the db without having to do some tricks to get to the data when it is locked down...but that can depend on what is creating the db.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tapping into VMware's postgresql db in order to utilize the power behind Tableau to make some awesome viz dashboards!

PostGRES is same as Oracle SQL
What do you like best about the product?
PostGres follows ANSI SQL like Oracle does

Less documentation and not like Oracle which have mature documentation

Postgres - Not that greaat, but it is free

Not much other than the price. Supported SQ Syntax is similar to Oracle PLSQL

the GUI's /tools are garbage, support is lacking, hard to interface with other appications

JDBC connectivity to applications, using tools such as PGAdmin

What do you like best about the product?
It's a powerful, reliable and fast relational database. It's open source and it's also object oriented.
What do you dislike about the product?
Replication is hard to set up. The schema visibility among different users is a difficult too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have created a microservices auto registering system with it.

It is an open source, reliable, fast and robust DB.
Postgres is amazing and has a great community

I love the community around postgres. There are so many great enhancements that they make and the features that you get are fantastic considering the price.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more commercial support for community plugins and extensions.

I've used postgres as the primary data source for many production applications.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's pretty industry standard and you'll find the community to be very supportive. Also lots of third party support with config management tools like docker/puppet/chef etc.

What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL is easy to install and with analytic functions. It supports IP address datatype such as inet, checks constraint and uses programming language for stored procedures such as Python, JS, Perl.

The process of installing is just a bit goofy and not documentation is not lined up for clarity even though it's not a difficult process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped me to manage IPs with vulnerabilities which eventually is used to push data to a third party Monitoring Application.

What do you like best about the product?
Rock solid stability, easy administration

There have been some breaking changes between versions but it's pretty easy to revert back when it occurs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need relational databases for many of our applications. PostgreSQL combined with Amazon RDS has been very simple and stable for our engineers and developers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're using MySQL and have some issues with stability/corruption consider switching to PostgreSQL. It's stable and the learning curve is pretty small for MySQL administrators.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of data base management system. Its simple user dashboard and quick cloud response time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing specific dislikes. Sometime there are server errors. You could have a review on that.

Our company primarily use it for Data storage and Analysis purpose.

Cost Effective. Best for all size of organization and all size of dataset management.

What do you like best about the product?
PostgreSQL provides various kind of hooks. Some of these hooks can be utilized to make access control decision on the supplied users' accesses on database objects. We call plug-in modules making access control decision based on its own security model as an external security provider.

Make more advertising and training programs

A modern database. I think all businesses should use it.

PostgreSQL is a feature rich open source database
What do you like best about the product?
No licensing! PostgreSQL offers many of the same features Oracle database but at no cost. Optional extensions (ggaudit, uuid-ossp, etc.) add to the numerous native features of the database. JSONB data types also allow for PostgreSQL to be used as a document store. PostgreSQL has it's pgplsql procedural language, plus the ability to use other languages such as Python.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features which are not quiet as robust as Oracle. Oracle auditing is more granular. The lack of referential integrity for partitioned tables is a con.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Immediate reduction in the cost to implement due to no licensing. Combine with an AWS RDS and immediately reduce the amount of time required to install the software and backup.
