Postgres is a good replacement for expensive Oracle.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the Sequence that can be declared for each table, similar to Oracle DB.
90 % syntax and features of Oracle does match with Postgre

PosgreSql, la mejor fusión entre sql y la programación

La posibilidad inmensa de programación permitida por el codigo, permitiendo generar interfaces a partir de código sql

Ninguna, es una muy buena alternativa a la fusión de cualquier lenguaje de programación que trabaje con sql

Lo que mas destaco es a diferencias de otros es que tiene Soports SIG, que para ciertas aplicaciones es util.

En principio para lo que lo he usuado, nunca he tenido problemas.

Gran soporte SIG, porl lo que permite consultas espaciales.

What do you like best about the product?
Lo primero a destacar es que es open source, por tanto no tiene costes de licenciamiento. Es sin duda la mejor opción libre. También cabe destacar sus extensiones GIS.

Su rendimiento manejando grandes volúmenes deja mucho que desear y las herramientas administrativas no son todo lo potentes que desearíamos

Hemos utilizado está BD en un proyecto de gestión catastral donde necesitábamos gestionar tanto la información alfanumérica como la gráfica.

Si, sobre todo en proyectos con tecnologías open source

The ease of use, configure and manage. Postgres is a database solution for simple and medium complexity apps.
What do you dislike about the product?
The app for manage, so I use other generic apps for manage SQL databases, like dBeaver

Postgres is valid for construct any database, which any application (web, Java or any other) can use for store and consult information

If you want a simple database for generic purposes, PostgreSQL is valid. Of course there are a lot of SQL databases in the market, that do the same, but in my opinion Postgres is very simple to start

Excellente software to manage databases. Is oriented to obejects and the best of all is that is free.

Don't have a official support from the depeloper of the software.

evaluate the sql compatibility well before migration

It's easy to use and the tools that are available for it, like pgAdmin, are supported on different OS.

pgAdmin's user interface is not optimal, it can be definitely improved

I enjoyed the capability to use other programming languages within it to allow for easy data modifications and more.

The thing that was the hardest to get comfortable with was all the short hand notation. Most are single character, which can get confusing.

Postgers is open source, easy to use RDBMS. There are plenty of admin tools available and good documentation.

There is not much to dislike about it....I use it at work every day.
