Great platform, but needs a complete revamp!

  • July 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is and has been a great CMS platform for those looking to have a stable and strong CMS product to build their websites on. There are many developers in the community and there are a great number of options and looks you can add to your site with Joomla.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform has become a little outdated. The advancement of their biggest competitor has essentially driven Joomla away from the end-user. The platform has over recent years been buggy and and heavy load on servers. It need major simplification if it desires to get the every day user back and not be just something developers enjoy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Joomla has allowed me to contact and connect with my audience and customers quickly and easily over the years.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be sure to have a knowledge of web development. Because the platform has started to lag behind, you may need skills beyond simple design or css.

What do you like best about the product?
Es gratis (free), es libre sin ningun tipo de licencia de uso y dispone de gran cantidad de modulos gratuito y de pago que permiten el uso de este CMS hasta limites insospechados.
What do you dislike about the product?
Al ser gratis sus actualizaciones no son muy numerosos y algunos cambios de version conllevan cambios en modulos dejando inhabilitado su uso si no se cumplen las condiciones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Paginas web sencillas e incluso CMS completos para PYMES.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Es muy facil de usar, aunque deberian cambiar de lenguaje y descartar PHP usando otros lenguajes mas "modernos".

It depends on the use you want of it not desired for complex web sites

  • July 17, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Is a framework that evolved to a CMS so you can easily create custom components. Besides, there is a lot of people using it. So you can easily find modules and components developed by other people. These may fit your needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
its logic is a mess. Most of of relationships with menus or articles just does not make sense. If you combine it with Virtuemart it's terrible for complex stuff. Sometimes you are forced to hack core in order to achieve what you want to do. Since you cannot customize view.html
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main page is working with Joomla right now. We are looking for moving to another platform
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use it just for basic web pages

Amazing experience

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of switching into fast coding and php for beginners.
What do you dislike about the product?
There needed to be a bit more walk through for beginners but it only set opening roughly a month. A seasoned coder can have this going in no time! I'de recommend this to advanced and new users. This is a great intro software and still great after many years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to get website shells put together in roughly a few days for fast presentation to customers abroad.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is difficult on startup. A few quick YouTube tutorials and your problems are fixed quick. Support emails in roughly 30 minutes so if you're fully stuck they can help in no time

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is best for Non Technical person. It has better functionalities that WordPress, and some common functionalities too like modules, components, plugins. Its content is structured, that makes it easy to maintain an active website with lots of updates. It is free and plus its all plugins are also free.
What do you dislike about the product?
Need a technical person to solve the bugs if we face any as it is difficult to find the files and issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developed one website for the client
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look for Drupal if you need more functionality.

Website Management Made Easy

  • April 27, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
-As a person that is not incredibly tech saavy, this platform makes it easy to implement quick changes to our website content.
-The sorting of pages and articles makes it easy to search for the correct pages to edit as well as keep a running history of what we've created before.
-The integration with other systems we use is seamless
What do you dislike about the product?
-I would like the ability to at least see the back end code so when bugs occur we can identify the problem without hiring outside IT
-The document and file sorting is a bit of a mess and hard to navigate
-In line text editing could be a little more in-depth
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Joomla is a quick and easy way for even the least technical people to be able to manage their website content. It has made it easy for me to be able to create new pages as well as edit content on the pages.

Joomla Is Robust and Extensible.

  • April 18, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is an excellent tool that interacts with your company's network that allows you to build online applications. Joomla uses a standard website content generator similar to Word Press that allows classified fields to be entered by the end user. The content can be managed by users authenticated or authorized for publication purposes. With all its add-ons and modules, it can solve almost any customer need by simply installing it. The content can be synchronized with the company's intranet or with the Internet, which guarantees a fluid synchronization between two platforms through PHP and SQL.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest problem is the many underdeveloped extensions that one can find online. There is no way to know in advance if they are reliable or not. Yes, they are qualified and publicly reviewed, but experience tells us that you can not always trust the public.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to create websites with greater personalization and features, the client was extremely satisfied with the result.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend Joomla for associations and small and medium businesses, which can pay a Joomla expert to keep the software updated and help with the initial configuration and design.

Joomla is a well-rounded platform for your content needs

  • April 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla has hundreds of plugins, all of which are created to serve a certain purpose, such as forms, ecommerce or blogging. Joomla is generally more secure out of the box than more popular CMS platforms like Wordpress. Easy to create and mage your own templates, which makes it a snap when using Joomla with large teams
What do you dislike about the product?
Joomla is definitely a more technical platform than, say, Wordpress. Support can be filled with tech babble, or nonexistenet. Some features, like blogging, aren't baked in and will require plugins and additional setup to get started.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used Joomla as part of an enterprise-level web design/CMS solution for a large public university for three years. During that time we used the CMS to publish news stories and web pages, as well as handle email subscriptions, forms and donations using various plugins and in-house development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learn as much as you can about setup before committing to ANY CMS - there are definite pros and cons to each, and what works for your business may not work for others. Same goes for plugins- fully evaluate them and comapre their features to your goals.

Content Mgmt Tool for all types of users

  • April 09, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy how user friendly the platform was. We could easily manipulate our web content and the SEO tool was incredibly easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support was lacking. BUT there is an amazing community on the web that can help you out for any issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We no longer needed 3rd party contractors to manager our site. It gave us the ability to update our site on the fly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its a good tool. I would make sure you are going to use it OFTEN. It can be pricey. If not, go with wordpress.

A good start for a CMS

  • April 06, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is relatively simple to follow, managing the site set up and adding new pages / blog content. Asset management was also very easy and clear, with clean folder options
What do you dislike about the product?
Tagging and SEO became more difficult on the older versions of Joomla and so several upgrades to the CMS had to be completed. It has got better since these new versions we used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a consistent way of uploading new pages for latest news and blog content. The CMS also had to handle the various showcases on industry work.
