    Computer Software

Powerful CMS has pros and cons

  • April 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is a robust CMS that is popular enough to have a decent selection of templates, plug-ins, components, and extensions available.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as known, popular, or easy to use as WordPress, so fewer options available for the items above. Clients are not typically familiar with it either. If clients have any preference at all about CMS, they will want to use WordPress rather than Joomla, so it takes convincing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Similar to the Apple to Microsoft comparison, fewer users mean less hacking, though it's a concern on every system, of course. Joomla works very well with complex back-end programs and databases - far more robust than WordPress for this, but not as complicated to use as Drupal or similar.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Read the user reviews, look at what available out there. There is a rich and informative community of Joomla users who have written tomes of useful directions, reviews, "how-to" guides, etc. Take the time to understand your needs clearly and choose the system that will best meet them.

Decent CMS but misses the mark in some areas

  • April 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Positives are that it is hosted for free, gets automatic updates, and is ready to use in a matter of minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Misses the mark in that the mailing functionality is limited, as well as storage space. Also, users cannot edit templates (big negative) and the support is lacking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Inexpensive way to handle site

    Automotive

Easy and Flexible open source CMS

  • March 22, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla has adaptable framework with user friendly back-end; I really love that Joomla is free opensource CMS, with thousands of extensions and that it contains the ability to add so many necessary extensions for free to boost site features, tending to work out-of-the-box with a highly finished look and feel. It is easy to use, once you know how.
What do you dislike about the product?
Joomla is dependent on the template you use. The more extensions you use, the more problems you will have in the long run, especially after updates as there is no formal company which maintains the platform, you have to depend on the use of the community to release new updates. Unlike WordPress, Joomla is a community-based application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Joomla was an excellent fix for our organization because it got our website onto an open source one, meaning that it was much easier for us to hire in-house people to work and maintain the site. It also has limitless features - we needed some custom coding and I was able to put in everything that we needed by using joomla user friendly extensions.
With Joomla I could create lot of meta tags and customized extensions helped in updating the look and feel of the website with huge ROI.
It is very easy and you can find a lot of templates on the internet.

If you are considering an open source free CMS jo for Joomla! you will find what you are looking for based on capabilities, look beyond this to the community available to support and extend the functionality of the CMS. This is the real power behind Joomla.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you are fairly familiar with content management systems and web design and development then you will find Joomla’s capabilities to be of utmost advantage. If you are inexperienced, it may take some time to get to know your way around. Either way, whether you want to create a personal or business website, blog or e-commerce, Joomla puts a world of possibilities in front of you. Its open source and is free you with lot of free extensions that will help you customize the look and feel of your website

Great for New Web Designers!

What do you like best about the product?
I like how user friendly it is. It's easy to teach to others and play around with yourself, you just have to try things on your own first.
What do you dislike about the product?
Modules! They are very tricky to me for editing and manipulating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We built our whole new site using Joomla, so it's solving marketing and info problems for customers and potential donors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for it! As long as you have staff who can really dedicate time to learning and adapting your site, use Joomla for it!

Joomla! is the multitalented CMS

  • March 12, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the flexibility of Joomla! with all the extensions and templates. Thanks to overrides and custom fields you can do nearly everything with this CMS. In case you need support you can mostly find the solution directly from the great community behind it. Join a JoomlaDay or a Joomla User Group and always stay up to date with the latest trends
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in special. Joomla! delivers everything you need from a responsive default template to an ever enhancing extension directory.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy content management for multiple users. We have multiple people creating content and thanks to the advanced ACL nothing can go wrong.
To display our google calendar directly on the website we simply added a new module to the front-page and added the given code by google without any bigger issues. As already said: You can solve everything within Joomla!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Can't wait for Joomla 4 with even more functionalities.
if you consider using Joomla! don't miss out the chance to meet the community. Wether on a JoomlaDay, the JandBeyond Conference or a local meetup of you nearest Joomla User Group.

Easy to Learn, Great for Templated Websites

  • March 07, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of updating content that lives in multiple places of the website on one page, once you learn how content nodes work the rest is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Joomla makes me miss wysiwyg softwares, you trade your custom page designs for templates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Once the page templates are set up it's easy to maintain and add to the site.

Joomla For Web Development

  • February 16, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For the most part, Joomla is very user-friendly and is compatible with a variety of different extensions for more robust web development.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience, the interface is slightly outdated. Many web development platforms these days use drag/drop options rather than code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We host all of our client sites through Joomla which is great for consistency.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Familiarize yourself with HTML and CSS.

Joomla! is cumbersome and complicated

  • February 16, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The only thing I like is Joomla! can handle a huge database and pull content reliably.
What do you dislike about the product?
With Joomla! being open source, its developers keep reworking it (some for good reason-security), but when they put out an update it often completely changes the user interface and it scrambles the display of components, requiring time on the users part to go back in, reorder everything, and get the web page to display "as normal." I would never choose this platform, though I have to use it as my client's web page, a huge one, is written in Joomla! Other organizations I have supported have used it, too, but many of them are now defunct. Some of the components are so complicated I cannot prepare them myself and have to turn to a paid expert to add special features to the web page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I inherited Joomla! The organization uses it for its comprehensive web page for all its programs, membership lists, program announcements and more. The only benefit I can define is having a unified place for all the information to be held.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look for another solution. While I'm not a fan of the new scroll down multiple image with text section format, there are many platforms that can help you accomplish your communications mission that will be easier to use.

An Important CMS to learn and utilize

  • February 14, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Joomla is a relatively easy product to learn and there are lots of plugins which you can install to improve your website and it's performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like most CMS's, security can be at risk. However, security might be less of a risk on Joomla than Wordpress since Wordpress is so popular. There are pros and cons, but you definitely want to be cognizant of security. I also wish the media manager was a little bit less clunky and more user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to solve SEO challenges by utilizing specific plugins with Joomla. I am also able to have my site backed up on a constant basis with this program.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would consider weighing the pros and cons of Joomla and reading up on other CMS's. There are many CMS's out there. Joomla may be the best one for your needs.

Amazing Performance Joomla

  • February 14, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Rather than concentrating on Joomla just I disclose to you why Joomla is a superior option contrasted with Wordpress in numerous situations when you are not searching for blog just arrangement. (Obviously with regards to Blogs there's EasyBlog for Joomla). WordPress was and is in fact second rate contrasted with Joomla on account of – spaghetti codes – no multilingual choice out of the container – nor get to levels and control – nor legitimate menu administration (for those with gateways to oversee 50+ menu things) – no layout, module and dialect supersedes (continually making a kid topic is truly something that shouldn't exist in any case) – nor client gatherings and a considerable measure of different noes…
What do you dislike about the product?
Expectation to learn and adapt is steep. There is a great deal of documentation, however much of the time issues that emerge are not recorded and hard to explain. Most documentation includes utilizing this as a blogging stage and not how to control your vision into a practical website - so it requires a significant stretch of time to figure out how to control things. The bigger your site gets, too, the more odd bugs you're probably going to experience. A non-software engineer can influence things to work, however information of programming and how the back end functions is important to make something that doesn't look cutout..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This helps in creating blog of my website.. and different types of addon is also helping me..
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good website to make blog for ur website...
