Easy to implement CMS

  • April 27, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to implement
Easy to customize
User friendly
Developer friend as there is an excellent developer knowledgebase
Huge Marketplace to find plugins or templates to address specific needs
No cost as it is an open source system. You only pay if you need to have something specific developed or purchased through the marketplace
What do you dislike about the product?
Security is one concern: There are many exploits out on the internet to compromise WordPress that makes it vulnerable. Therefore, securing wordpress from those threats is one of the major responsibilities. Majority of the web uses Wordpress which makes it an easy target for hackers.

Regular Updates: Due to the frequent security risks, wordpress needs to be patched frequently which can bring some downtime. I have to patch and update all the plugns and templates every 2 weeks to make sure our website is not prone to be exploited.

Malware on Marketplace: Plugins available on market place could be infected that would put your website to a risk of exploitation. Marketplace needs to have some mechanism to identify malicious plugins.

User management: There should be a feature to create custom roles with certain permissions for users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am a WordPress Developer, and I have developed a front-end website for my employer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Building on WordPress should be recommended as it is known to most developers out there and is easy to learn. With some practice, non-developer people can quickly write and publish content on their blogs or websites if they are using WordPress.

It's good for many projects, but not all.

What do you like best about the product?
I like how client friendly it can be with advanced custom fields.
What do you dislike about the product?
it’s soooooo clunky and a typical WordPress site not made by an advanced developer has absolutely garbage code (page builders, a million plugins) and as a result it’s slow and inefficient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time-consuming development process and short deadline projects that have large requirements that are somewhat manageable with wordpress. For the time being.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend working with someone else to use wordpress as it's a simple process but there's so much more thought to put into vision and creative work that it becomes tedious to simply focus on the content management system as your main tool. There's so much more to do outside of development such as design and visions portrayal. Perspective is everything in todays world.

My goto for any kind of website

  • April 23, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
WordPress is so easy to setup and use. It's so versatile that it can handle any kind of website you can imagine, I am a web developer and I use it every day. WordPress is not just for blogs, let me tell you. I use it for web development across the board. They have an infinite number of plugins to help your site work with your existing system. It's great for e-commerce as well as personal blogs. It's written in PHP which is very easy to read and understand. WordPress has a million templates and layouts as well. I have worked with many other content management-type scripts and I found that other scripts can fall short when it comes to user-friendliness, leaving my clients unhappy or dependant on me, but WordPress is easy and familiar to everyone.
What do you dislike about the product?
For a long time, using a script like Wordpress on your host server was considered risky and could leave your server open to attacks and viruses. However more recently I have found that they are on top of security and updates are published before issues become issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With WordPress I can complete an entire website in one day, where other scripts take much longer. It allows me to offer great prices for web work and the maintenance contracts are a cinch since it's so easy to work with.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would definately recommend WordPress over any other script like it.

Blogging in WordPress

  • April 19, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about WordPress is it's free to use. It has so many themes available for web design, again accessible, and it's easy to apply to your pages that comes with templates that you can edit. There are also "Premium Themes" which you have to pay before you can use your pages. If you're in any way serious about blogging, either personal or work-related blogs, this is your go-to website. Managing multiple websites in WordPress is very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I initially dislike with WordPress was the page setup when you first had your account created. It caused me confusion from "Where do I see the pages" to "what is this button for." I had issues with plugins as well. I was able to find a resolution in google. Eventually, I understood that I have to set a personal URL first, then select a theme to finish the whole page setup. I wish we can have an option to delete the site pages by sliding right.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was trying to find a platform to blog and show photography at the time, and since this is, I think, one of the top blogging websites, I created an account. Besides having your own space where you can say anything, whether informative or personal, I think WordPress makes it easy to grow your site/business. The ultimate benefit you can get from WordPress is that it's an open-source, secured, and built-in blog where you can handle different pages in one account.
