What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can search by each type of field, and find the cause of errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a fairly steep learning curve, but once you learn it, it's powerful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to view our application logs, and find the cause of errors.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out and see if it can help you analyze your logs.

Spelunking your logs with Splunk!

What do you like best about the product?
- The ability to create dashboards based on your logs
- Quick searching of logs
- Easy, easy, easy collection of logs
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the biggest problems with Splunk is their cost model as they charge by the GB.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are easily able to aggregate logs for our web-based solutions which helps immensely with troubleshooting. We also create dashboards to see what solutions our users are using and if any issues are starting to arise.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider getting the unlimited pricing tier as you don't realize how much data you logs aggregated can add up to.

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is awesome because it has comprehensive and flexible search functionality.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I think of what I dislike about Splunk, nothing comes to mind.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use splunk to monitor our system. We put logging in our code that we can search on in Splunk if something goes wrong to find out more information.

It is an expensive tool as they charge by the amount of data

Mainly use it for log aggregation with various tools used by the enterprise

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk is very user friendly and on the analytics side, the visuals created are very elegant!
What do you dislike about the product?
As you scale does the price and it can definitely get overly expensive and the more data you need to index, the higher the CPU cost is. Also some of the querying requires a bit of a learning curve
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Log processing and querying and analytics on these logs
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would not recommend Splunk For small to medium sized businesses since there are better and cheaper tools out there

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to track trends, create alerts and notifications, share data, ingest data, and get the whole team up to speed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost. Learning curve (powerful, but challenging)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monitoring, support, dashboard, notifications, reporting.
The cost is really high, but we figured if we used its fully capability, we would require 1 fewer helpdesk person. It took awhile to get the various reports and dashboards set up, but we now have complete visibility into our business, with full history and analytics that anyone in the company can dive into.

What do you like best about the product?
Very nice user experience with a lot of graph options.
"One click" report creator tool.
In contrast to ElasticSearch+Kibana, you get all services together.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can think only about high price of this product. Need to pay per GB/Month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a 10 GB of logs each day and needed to do some statistics and reports.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if you have enough money, this tool is the best! This is only logging management system that gets you all services together.

What do you like best about the product?
Splunk has an easy to use interface that can hide how powerful the software can be. It is useful for anyone monitoring anything.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little I dislike about splunk. I suppose the only thing I think they could improve is make it cheaper so we don't have to worry as much about our data limits.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to monitor our platform.

What do you like best about the product?
The total amount of information that can be processed and parsed up into useful data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems that every new product requires me to learn a new syntax or language in order to make full use of a product. This is no different, but it is still useful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many unique data collection methods in our environment. Being able to redirect them into an analysis engine that can then correlate that data into meaningful, actionable dashboards helps a great deal.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool, but I understand that there can be significant cost issues depending on the amount of data being collected/stored.
