What do you like best about the product?
This is such a wonderful place to store data for all platforms to access. It protected and available all of the time.
We never have issues with this platform
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features need to be more mainframe centric such as the MERGE statement it was obviously taken from the LUW world
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
data that will be accessed via APIs and Web servicies

What do you like best about the product?
The way DB2 has evolved over time and been able to meet and keep up with needs as well as coming up with new ways of dealing with data
What do you dislike about the product?
when added to other products, it gets a little confusing - like ICPD
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

What do you like best about the product?
performance, ability to control access plans when needed, row and column based. Shared disk or share nothing architecture.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unable to leverage standby HADR for full SQL.

What do you like best about the product?
The availability and commercial support.
The number of DB2 Administrators and consultants was a plus.
Financial viability of IBM was also a factor
What do you dislike about the product?
The documentation language and "IBM Think" phrasing makes it difficult sometimes to understand what is being explained.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Equity trading, various enterprise database needs in a large bank

What do you like best about the product?
DB2 is a very mature product with few bugs that hinder our utilization of the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not aware of any current issues that we are encountering with our implementation of DB2.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We utilize DB2 for all of our back end processing. The speed with which we can process data is great.

abstract data access from the underlying physical data stores of all kinds
What do you dislike about the product?
lack of timezone and transport-level compression support to make it hard to manage a pool of Db2 instances across WAN

Recommendations to others considering the product:
leverage Db2 data federation/virtualization to build common metadata repository, speed up data access, manage data security, and improve DevOp efficiency

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility of those with little db experience to be able to step in, and perform at a high level.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the implementation we used we had cold backups, and running logs that caused issues on rare occasions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running a back end for medical imaging program based on DICOM. Also served as analytics back end.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get used to syntax early, and Dart is your friend.

so far so good, with the management have an understanding that the expense is high on mainframes

What do you like best about the product?
I liked how fast it was to instasll the software. Setting up thr HADR was also easier than I anticipated.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't like thr instructions. They were too hard to follow in certain spots.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed thr DB 2 servers in ordert to install HCL Leap in our environment;
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure uyou set aside enough time to setup and install the application.
