The best tool for performance tests
What do you like best?
Gatling is a flexible framework written in scala. Out of the box it has incredibly powerful features and integrates seamlessly with your project structure as well as with your ci/cd. We used Gatling when we began transitioning from a monolithic architecture to a Microservice based. We were able to easily define a template and have a consistent testing pattern across our services. Reports are also easy to read and understand.
What do you dislike?
If you don’t have a java based project or dev team, there might be some ramp up on working with the Gatling framework. The investment on learning scala might not be for you.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We used Gatling to validate performance requirements and concurrency for our public APIs. We also used it make sure our background services wouldn’t fall over due to load. We were able to create a test suite with Gatling which helped us make sure we never caused any negative impact to performance with new code changes or features.
