GitLab: A complete DevOps Tool
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab is a secure and highly available SCM service that can use with other premium features for free. GitLab provides CI integration and shared runners for DevOps implementation. It also has a community version that can be self-host in any cloud or local server.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything which I don't like about Gitlab but I world say Default shared runners provide a build for free but they are really very slow as compared to other similar services.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
GitLab provides us the space where we can store and share our codebase with the developers. It also allows us to deploy the application with its DevOps features. We can add our own runners which ensures faster deployments of the code.
It was a seemless experience in the devops platform for repositories management
What do you like best about the product?
The UI of gitlab makes it user friendly the various ways to view the changes made in each commit and each push request makes it easy to track where it has gone wrong. The management of repositories becomes easy and its integration with jenkins and other CI CD pipeline softwares makes it easy to deploy
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike the UI sometimes is more clumsy which can be made clear while comparing multiple files.

Fantastic platform for development and task management
What do you like best about the product?
The comment and description fields functional. They allow markdown and attachments which really help with making Merge Requests more descriptive. It's also great that the task management system is on the same platform. Easy to keep track of issues and link them together.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major. Some of the functionalities aren't fully compatible on mobile browsers. For example, managing a board and moving tasks around is pretty tedious. But that's just nitpicking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Merge Requests for code pushes are very easy to compare, review and resolve. The UI makes it easy to manage branches, merge permissions and so on. It's easy to set up and makes the team more productive.
Useful Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab has considerable user interface and user experience. It is fun to use it as git tool, project management tool and CI/CD.
What do you dislike about the product?
Most of the beneficial tools are not free.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It optimizes software development life cycle in one place.
The best CI/CD (DevOps) platform I've experienced
What do you like best about the product?
Much more, I like the flexibility of the CI/CI pipelines. It provides tools and functionalities that you can combine the software development and operatios lifecycle in one place with the help of VCS, CI/CD, Container and Package registry and other features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Actually it happen very rarely but sometimes the pipeline jobs don't trigger when I use "only:changes" keyword in my CI pipelines. Comparing to competitors the website works a little slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With GitLab, we cover:
- software contribution: The teams are contributing the software easily
- software delivery: This process has become easier and more manageable with the help of the CI/CD feature.
- packages and registries: This is very nice when you can store your containers or packages (e.g., Helm charts) in GitLab's registry.

Best open-source version controlling system
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab is open-source and it is the best thing I really liked. another thing I liked is tools like Jenkins for continuous integration. I loved its interface and ease to access all menus & options.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes GitLab webhook is challenging to configure. Command-line is not user-friendly to usable. Complicated and hard to customizable blocks. The subscription plan is expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I liked in GitLab is easy to manage projects or repositories. Add and manage CI/CD, connectGKE &. Kubeflow. CI/CD using GitLab under the free plan which helped me to make life easier.
Very user friendly interface, saves a lot of time !!

User-friendly interface. I have used Github, but GitLab is next level.
Features include notification to the user for the pull request after a commit.
Easy CICD integration. A very user-friendly interface to see all your deployments on one screen.
Code comparison is very visual. The "Merge after the pipeline succeeds" feature is terrific. It saves a lot of time.
A must-have product for an organization.

What do you dislike about the product?
Autorebase functionality needs to be improved .
Merge when pipe suceeds should be disabled when there are conflits in the branch .
I do not have many disliking features.

Awesome tool
What do you like best about the product?
Have been a fan of Gitlab since its inception, especially the ease of integration whether its on-premise or cloud is pretty awesome. Also really helpful is its cicd part.
What do you dislike about the product?
The on-premise set-up using Gitlab runners seems initially bit complicated, also getting used to the Product is bit cumbersome compared to someone who has been using Gitlabor other version control system
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Mainly we were able to have a seamless ci-cd integration using Gitlab using the .gitlab-ci.yaml file.
2. Ease of integration with SSO tools like Okta, etc is very impressive

3. Can even integrate very easily with other CI/CD tools like Jenkins

What do you dislike about the product?
Could be better if the upgrade process of GitLab is easy from one version to another version particularly with respect to the Postgres Database upgrade process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our CI/CD workloads run great and this helps us in building our products faster. Due to the easy CI/CD configuration in the gitlab-ci.yml file, we are able to concentrate more on the product building than the ci/cd configuration that needs to be done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would advise folks to use Gitlab as it has all the components in it instead of using different tools to manage the software delivery process. It has version control integrated, CI/CD, auto-devops and many others.

Repository Management has been made easy and it has been utilized as a Continous Pipeline.
On check-in auto build process can be managed and email for success failure can be setup also.

What do you dislike about the product?
The tool can be made useful for Continous Deployment also which can make it more useful.
If Continous deployment part can be added to it then it can become a single tool for managing code, integration and deployment.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Source code repository management is managing the code repositories for us.
On submitting the code in repositories, all CI processes get managed automatically. And Junit tested jar/war file is available for deployment.
