Excellent Continuos integration and continuos deployment sass product
What do you like best about the product?
I have used azure DevOps for more than two years but am not a fan of it likes GitLab most
1. Gitlab runner/agent - Excellent agent; we incorporated helm and Kubernetes continuous deployment
2. Gitlab pipelines - Support all plugins primarily through a docker container
3. Gitlab webhook triggers your pipelines in few seconds
4. Gitlab repository - we have put all our repositories into it. Secured and protected repository
5. Gitlab ci/cd setting, we can store all our credentials and governance them well
6. Gitlab build engines - no words, building all docker images and pushing to GitLab registry
7. Gitlab registry - docker registry, npm registry, maven registry, helm registry.

Excellent for Version Control
What do you like best about the product?
I have used multiple tools in the past four years, but GitLab was one of the best among all.
The thing that makes Gitlab apart from other tools is the great UI.
Its navigation bar shows valuable items for quick navigation.
The UI for diff of the files is one the easiest to interpret and increases productivity.
The charts make it easy to visualize the progress like burnup/burndown charts.
The documentation for implementing the CI/CD is fantastic.

It's not just a source code repository hosting platform.
It's a DevOps platform bagged with source code repository hosting, Continuous integration, Continuous delivery, Artifact management, Package management, Container register, SAST, Issue tracking and management, Source code vulnerability scanning and much more.
Very good role based access control and isolation.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are two offerings, Self managed and SaaS one.
Cost of both type of offering are same which I don't like, cost of self managed Gitlab should be less.
There are some resource limitations if we go with SaaS version.

Best Tool for Managing Code Repository
What do you like best about the product?
I love the UI of GitLab. It's straightforward to monitor and view the changes made by the team. Moreover, the feature provided to integrate and deploy the code in various environments is also helpful. We can provide granular access to different members in a team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Suppose we are merging a feature branch to develop. And many members of the Team had contributed their code in the particular feature branch. During the merge and review phase, we can see the changes between the two branches.
It would be great if we can see the name of the person as well when we hover over the changes which are highlighted in the green color. It does help if we are reviewing as a team. We can clarify the changes at that moment instead of going back and looking at who added the changes in which commit.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Version Control of Code, Deployment of code in relevant infrastructure using Pipeline.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
GitLab comes with multiple features, and it's beneficial when we are working in a team. It does help to maintain and access the code and we can also integrate it with our cloud infrastructure to deploy the code in CI-CD environment.
