Best git repository and pipelines admin
What do you like best about the product?
It has all the needed features to implement modern code development and shipping. We use it mainly as a version control hosting but also use the pipelines to build our artefacts that we automatically ship to our production environments creating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivary flow
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it goes down without a notice and you feel helpless until it is fixed. That can halt your development process and is not good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it as our operations center for all things code related, is our git and pipelines admin tool to create code and artefacts
gitlab good for CI/CD
What do you like best about the product?
easy to use, good documentation perfect for devops
What do you dislike about the product?
too many integration points like webhooks; lot of time spent for conf
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
automating deployment pipelines. Stages are well defined
Gitlab - just as good, and open source.
What do you like best about the product?
Gitlab is great. It is just as robust and full of features as github, while being open-source.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much to dislike! If you're very familiar with github, you'll have a tiny learning curve trying to find a few things that are in different places or that have different names, but other than that, the experience is identical.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it as a code repository for projects. It's great, it works, and it's open source.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about what you need and whether you're willing to be your own support.
The best tool
What do you like best about the product?
This is really the best tool for tracking tasks, connecting them with branches, continues integration and continues deployment to different cloud providers (or somewhere else if you do custom scripting). Also, the whole tracking of tickets (what needs to be done) is much easier if you could connect ticket with the branch where it's implemented.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it could be a little bit tricky to maintain and support it. n you are in of it it is easy to do anything. And if you would like to use groups a little bit in a different way than gitlab is supporting is not possible. What I would also like to see it add custom groups in the permission model and to add permission level in executing manual jobs. In Merge request view in changes, there could be a small improvement in the view. While scrolling the class name and all the buttons could stay as part of the header, so if you are at the end of the class that you don't need to scroll at the top just to minimize the class.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
CI/CD is much easier and faster
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Switch to gitlab on a cloud as is the correct tool which you want. IT's simple to use, simple to administrate and offer all that you need for developers. And if you implement it in the correct way it will speed up development, QA, CI, and CD process.
Version control does not have meaning without it!
What do you like best about the product?
It very easy to access through windows and linux both. Also there is a very good tutorial within the website.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some times I get lost within the settings. I believe it can be modified in order to make it even easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for version control and as a repository for my jupyter notebooks.
Best git client amongst all!
What do you like best about the product?
One word - Everything! Especially the pull request review process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. Sometimes slow & unresponsive, but that could be due to bad server
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has made it much faster & easier.
Easy to use and very handy
What do you like best about the product?
The fact that one can perform many git operations using the webpage itself. The ability to perform ci/cd along with many features such as keeping track of different merge requests make it a powerful code management tool
What do you dislike about the product?
No features as such, mostly easy to use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing source codes between teams and providing visibility about different ongoing and finished tasks
Integrated solution for development workflow
What do you like best about the product?
GitLab does a great job at creating a unified experience for our developers. We previously had several best-of bread solutions (code repository, issue tracker, CI runners and deployment pipelines) co-exist between our team, but we managed to consolidate this into a single solutions, which meets most of our needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The issue tracker's functionality is limited and is often described as hard-to-use for non-technical users. We have trouble with GitLab.com's stability/performance/uptime in the best, but this has become a lot better over the past year.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A single solution for most of our development workflow. This helped us to on boarding new developers more quickly while reducing operational overhead.
Go to for my Dev team.
What do you like best about the product?
Fantastic for collaboration at pace and super effective for version control.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bit of a learning curve. cli can be intimidating for beginners.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows fantastic collaboration. Implementation of merge.requests has allowed us to adopt TBD.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'm not sure who could even be considered a competitor. It's the industry standard.
