Scalability issues for large EUM customers on premises - but the tool is still useful
What do you like best about the product?
While the APM component is very mature, the EUM tool adds a critical aspect that we have really been missing - the visibility into network errors, app crashes, and other client side issues, which provide a much more compelling story during incident triage.
What do you dislike about the product?
The OnPrem EUM product has had a lot of scalability issues handling our large customer base. Features for the OnPrem version lag far behind the SAS offering when compared to other OnPrem vendors. Responsiveness and effectiveness of the support resources for the EUM product have been inconsistent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
EUM allows us to detect network problems, which in the past, we could only infer. This has been extremely helpful when compelling vendors to address connectivity issues in their networks. Similarly - EUM paints a much clearer picture of the impact to clients from server-side performance issues, many of which seem minor to app developers, but may cause seconds of delay for customers. Visibility is the most critical aspect for solving any problem.

What do you like best about the product?
It give us more free hands for configuration. Integration with other tool/software. Support of AppD is very quick.
What do you dislike about the product?
All manual setup and nothing automated. Sometimes documentation not give accurate information specially on extension which not updated on timely manner. Support team always work through chat which sometimes leads to miscommunication. It would be better if available through chat like Dynatrace. There is 200 Business Transactions limit per application which is critical for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We using Dynatrace APM tool and going to replace with AppDynamics. Main difference is more plugins availability and support team is solid.

Transaction Snapshots analysis and drill down of the steps and being able to see the time for each of the calls

Gets slow if the number of applications onboarded are large

Great features, they thought of everything
What do you like best about the product?
Unified Monitoring rolls several products into one platform, which makes for robust solutions. The UI is perfected. Website monitoring is made more efficient with AppDynamics. Support is average to good. It is a robust, ROBUST product but this has its drawbacks as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Robust tool usually means a steep learning curve and AppDynamics is no exception. Implementation has been a challenge. The current version is also buggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Seeking efficiency with a new infrastructure for website monitoring. If it weren't for the bugs and issues with implementation, this would be a perfect solution for us. We will probably seek another option.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try out solutions that don't require a full replacement of existing infrastructure first. If you are in need of a robust solution that will probably improve - removing bugs, increasing support, etc. - in the next few years, you might be willing to grow with AppDynamics. We are not.
