  • October 31, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- It's written now in Go.
- Allows integration with many tools and applications
- Dashboards are just amazing
- You can write your own scripts to parse logs and integrate them
- You can monitor all your infrastructure on site or in the cloud
- Agent installation can be automated.
- Advanced graph functionality.
- High level of customization.
- Alert notifications via e-mail and PagerDuty
- Full API access
- Sampling intervals of 10 seconds
- Mute all alerts with 1 click during upgrades and maintenance
- Supports Windows, Linux, and Mac
- Datadog’s overall robustness
- Easy to create custom graphs and metrics on the fly
- Monitors resource metrics well
What do you dislike about the product?
- Price. It's not cheap
- Heavy learning curve to several key features.
- Not very good for Azure
- The datadog agent eats a bit too much memory
- No significant cons, though I'd like to be able to monitor RDS health without integrating to the entire AWS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used Graphite as a monitoring tool. We had constant performance problems and system crashes. We started using Datadog and managed to obtain more detailed graphics, better dashboards, and a more reliable monitoring system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the trial version, install some agents in your servers, enjoy

Simple to Deploy Tools

  • October 25, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked how easy it was to get my on-prem and AWS systems into the same dashboard and system.
What do you dislike about the product?
For me, I would have liked to seen pricing based on data points ingested, not just node count. This can cause things to get pricey pretty fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had zero metric insights into our AWS systems. And internally, things like Zabbix and Nagios require a lot of work for little change. We were able to correlate AWS data to onsite date. In a simple, visual dashboard.

1. Stream and APM management. Team really likes Admin dashboard and Notification system.
2. Very good Server Monitoring.
3. We used it's API to sync with our servers. Worked very well with our API and very flexible REST operations over HTTPS. Liked the Sync Functions .

Great Monitoring Tool

  • October 19, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The integration with Amazon. We can easily see our AWS performance, set up alerts, and easily respond to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's really hard to think of anything we don't like. Rewriting all of our alerts was painful, but we'd get that switching to any other tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to quickly alert on and respond to issues with our infrastructure.

What do you like best about the product?
Really valuable third party analytics software, allows me to save time by tracking useful metrics and see what's happening in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not too intuitive at first, takes some time to understand the metrics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking metrics that we care about and seeing how our projects are being developed.

Data collection at scale

  • August 29, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Data Dog is really great at collecting data and give real-time perfomance metrics.
It is super flexible and work for all the technologies that we are using.
Also it is super easy too configure an alerting system like Pagerduty to notify us if something is odd.
What do you dislike about the product?
Within Data Dog, the dashboarding is quite hard to figure out.
There is time were too much information is just disturbing. Data Dog could fall in this pattern if you don't design properly your dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Dog helped us to get realtime metric on basic object within our infrastructure.
It give what happened in what order. So debugging is much easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Datadog is really great and simple to use. The are also adding new support for a lot of technology and programming language so doing hook is pretty easy.

Great Experience but not PCI Compliant

  • August 21, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love their integration with almost all popular frameworks out there. Can get started in just one line agent installation. Looked into their Log management solution which is also great!
What do you dislike about the product?
Alas, they are not PCI compliant therefore exporting logs to them becomes a challenge as it comes under purview of PCI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it mainly as a metrics aggregation tool and also using for log management for non critical workloads with respect to PCI.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Best for small infrastructures as too costly for bigger ones.

One of the best data monitoring tools

  • August 16, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to integrate with almost all of the cloud services is the best thing I like about datadog. Having used it for almost 7-8 months I found out that you can configure logs for even the smallest of unexpected behaviours in datadog
What do you dislike about the product?
Would've appreciated if they offered a free plan with limited functionality for early-stage startups. Currently they only have a 14days trial period
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was using datadog as a monitoring system in case of failure. Having already used cloudwatch I think datadog offer tons of integrations and customizations out of the box

Great out of the box experience

  • August 14, 2018
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that its extremely easy to get started. The agent install is a one line command and you are good to go. Integration with all popular channels such as Slack, Pagerduty. Ready made dashboards add to the charm as absolutely low barrier to entry and sensible defaults.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too costly. 15 USD for one host is way too much for a startup who has close to 10 servers which can be expected. They do provide a free account for upto 5 hosts though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Datadog for application errors monitoring and alerting. We have realized tremendous benifits in terms of headspace that correct people will be notified should anything break.
