Little experience but powerful TSDB

  • February 20, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I landed to TSDB for curiosity, being not the core of my business. In contrast with relational DB it is much more powerful for the throughput and reduced amount of dimensions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not simple for new users to get into it, especially FLUXQL. Actually they are moving to more traditional-like solutions, which is a good thing. Many webinar, but no in person conf, afaik.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have several logs to be stored everyday from different servers. Relational data bases are getting old fashioned, and new paradigms have arisen. In the framework of TSDB, Influxt is the SotA.

Run InfluxDB for time series location data to analyze animal behaviour

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
InfluxDB allows complete flexibility when you try to mine data to find static and dynamic features in time-based location data. You can combine and filter fields and time ranges with little effort. And the support from the InfluxDB development team helped to do sophisticated analytics much more efficient than we ever imagined.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes some time to get into the mindset of an time-series database when you are used to old-school-SQL. But it pays off very soon - if you struggle in the initial steps take the time to have a look at the influxdata-university and you soon are up and running.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cloud based data storage of location data of cattle. This enables us to store, access and analyze this data and integrate the data with our data control service and the visualization App.

The best way to store time series data bases

  • February 16, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It easy work on multi platform, and work on multi programming languages
What do you dislike about the product?
The python api is not very clear and easy to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It easy to store and access the databases

Solid platform

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use, can have data being ingested within minutes with the easy to use telegraf plugins.
What do you dislike about the product?
System monitoring for a large estate can be tricky when data has to be kept for a long period of time. Downsampling data is engineering task that can take a while to get right. Each measurement has to be downsampled individually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Modern system monitoring and alerting system to compliment out move to microservices applications.

Great DB, excellent service, dashboards could improve

  • February 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of setup. The large number of tutorials and knowledge articles make setting up an instance relatively easy. It was my first time venturing with InfluxDB, and in a couple of hours, I had an instance running and integrated with my IoT project without much trouble.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dashboards, although useful, are somewhat restrictive in how they can be shared. The typical scenario that I have is to be able to share a live dashboard outside my organisation, be that an auto-updated static image or a "limited functionality" dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have data coming from several devices based on Homeassistant that are easily integrated with InfluxDB and I need to be able to handle each time series as well as merge them for analysis using R.

Like the basic visualization

  • February 10, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For several years I used grafana on top of influxdb for visualization. Now with influxdb I am able to reduce complexity getting rid of another visualization just by using the influx one.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its very annoying to Look at any dashboard using your mobile.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
System monitoring

Best time-based DB for IOT

  • February 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I do like how InfluxDB also includes the Telegraf service, which allows quick data import from multiple sources. It is my favourite time-series DB for IOT projects. I also like that it is free to use for personal projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I must say that the Flux language is quite challenging to understand at the beginning and has a steep learning curve. I assume that more development to ease up the language ability is still needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows for collecting temperature data which are then used to enhance temperature settings in our house.

A light but powerful db for many IoT applications

  • February 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's a quick "time to awesome" solution, as they say. The short learning curve and intuitive usage make it the perfect choice for newbies and experts. In terms of writing/reading rate, it outperforms the competitors, as documented in many papers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Influx is rapidly growing. The simplicity of version v1.0 was impressive. Influx v2.0 added many features, and InfluxDB Cloud changed the paradigm: this may have made old applications outdated quickly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When IoT applications are concerned, a storage solution is always needed for one reason or another: historical data saving, performance monitoring, analytics, and so on. InfluxDB fulfills all the requirements, together with Telegraf, allowing me to build a home automation app rapidly, efficiently and happily.
