A great tool for managing access to your data warehouse and building a data catalog

  • November 08, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to configure access to tables in a very granular manner. User management via groups is easy and intuitive. Auto-detection of sensitive data saves a lot of time for our data stewards.
What do you dislike about the product?
Whenever I have to add a new table from a data warehouse, which is already known to Immuta, I have to type the connection details again and again (host, username, etc.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Out business requires controlling access permissions for the internal stakeholders to specific tables, columns, and rows. On top of that, internal stakeholders should be able to find the relevant tables by themselves.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go for SaaS version, not the hosted one. You will reduce your AWS bills and save the headache of hosting and upgrades.

Simple to use, excellent product across the board. Perfect addition to our modern data stack

What do you like best about the product?
Immuta vastly speeds up the time it takes to get a policy applied – it’s no longer a manual process. And it’s so easy to update when someone’s role changes or a new data source comes along.
What do you dislike about the product?
Immuta’s differential privacy feature is a bit complicated to implement compared to other features. Everything else is a few clicks and works seamlessly but there are a few features that you have to really be a privacy expert to utilize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We tried the build-it-yourself approach using manual tooling to protect sensitive data but it delayed access to the data significantly which impacted our time to value for customers. Our data - most of which is quite sensitive – is now available to all types of business analysts, data scientists and data engineers.
