    Higher Education

Full-featured CMS with a learning curve

  • January 31, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Drupal is extremely feature rich: there is a huge range of modules for most functionality, making it one of the most flexible CMS tools available for building complex websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a learning curve to understanding Drupal, both as a dev and as a CMS user. This means it's not the best choice for a simple website, and it requires developers with a good knowledge of Drupal in order to implement it effectively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used Drupal 6 on a number of large websites and intranets within the sporting events and academic sectors, which required the ability to publish lots of information on a regular basis, and to create a rich user experience. It has proven an extremely robust and useful tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you understand the commitment to getting the most from Drupal - an agency or internal dev team with a good knowledge of the versions (6 and 7 are very different beasts).

What do you dislike about the product?
It's not necessarily intuitive to use, and sometimes I get confused on what should be simple tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our entire company website is hosted on drupal. It gets the word out about what we're doing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lots of good YouTube videos on how to use it- take advantage!

  • January 03, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
somewhat easy to manage for basic information.
What do you dislike about the product?
the more deeply you have to get into the program the more likely you will need outside help. no good ecommerce at least that we've found.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed an easier way to manage our webiste...we wanted one where we could do most of the updating internally.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make sure you have a person on site to help with the day to day maintenance of the site you are using drupal for. if you are wanting CRM or shopping cart you probably want to use something else. Our verison is not mobile combatible.

What do you like best about the product?
Drupal is user-friendly. For what is necessary in my everyday use, Drupal seems to be a useful web building site.

There are some limitations. My site is static because there are some aspects of Drupal that are not available or is difficult to find how to implement. There are no resources available for questions other than the "community".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Drupal has increased our client based. In addition, I am able to access client information for marketing purposes through a comprehensive downloading system.
