Drupal capable but messy

  • January 16, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Active developer community and plugins for almost everything
What do you dislike about the product?
Things get messy really fast on the admin side of things
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building brand visibly to a client in China
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to plan well, and only use well documented and tested plugins.

Powerful, flexible, scalable and awesome!

  • January 15, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Drupal is extremely flexible and can pretty much be customized for any situation. There are plenty of contrib modules available that allow you to customize the site easily, and between those and the core modules you can pretty much build any type of website you need!
What do you dislike about the product?
It's definitely a bit hard to get started with Drupal, especially as a developer. There are so many options and it requires so much customization that it can be a bit difficult to get started. Once you understand all of the right modules to use and how to use them, developing in Drupal becomes a breeze!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developing websites in Drupal might take a bit longer and a bit more effort in the beginning, but it allows for the website to be much more scalable down the line. It also allows you to keep your website much more secure.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd suggest you have a developer that knows Drupal. If you're a developer, give it some time to learn and play around with the different core modules and contrib modules. It's going to take some time to learn all of the in's and out's of Drupal, but it'll be well worth it.

Fine for what it is

  • January 14, 2017
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexible. Can bring in modules others have created easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not very intuitive for non-technical users who are trying to use the CMS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Content management systems for publishers that are scaleable and flexible.

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Efficient and easy to use

  • January 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've used Drupal for over two years now. It was an excellent choice for my organization's website. I find this content management system to be extremely easy to use and reliable. No glitches or defects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of anything I dislike about Drupal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A program of the organization I work at is currently undergoing a redesign of their website. Drupal was been easy for the web developer to build an additional domain having many of the same features. Working through this has been beneficial.

Drupal is just ok

  • January 12, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
I like that updating a webpage is like filling in a form. This makes it easy for less tech-savy colleagues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont like that I cant make updates to it without help from our 3rd party tech team. I wish it was easier for me to manipulate on my own. I like Word Press better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WE needed any easy way to update our website when we switched. But now, I feel like it is too rigid and there isnt a lot of room to create unique web pages.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go with Word Press

    Computer Software

Not easy to use for the common user

  • December 27, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am not sure. It's so difficult to navigate and set up. I prefer WordPress.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything, the UI is not very easy to follow, there are hidden capabilities that are difficult to find and figure out how to use. We have become so dependent on an agency because of these challenges.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The website is nice, however has required a lot of customization and therefore we are not happy with the product.

Web content management

  • December 13, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I began using Drupal in November of 2015 through our agency's internet site and we recently implemented it for our intranet site. The tool is great for those without HTML or advanced web site design experience. The ability to limit rights and roles and assign publishing access is essential.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have previous experience with other content management systems like DotNetNuke, you may be disappointed in the built in modules and infrastructure. The web forms are not
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ultimately this enables the control of content by limiting who posts what. You can assign permissions to your staff based on their role in the workflow. This has eliminated rogue content from being published.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Determine roles and permissions ahead of time and define those so that there are no misunderstandings regarding access.

It's about time you ditch Wordpress

  • December 02, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I can't express enough how much I love how robust this system is compared to the other leading CMS providers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Given how "robust" the system truly is, if not handled properly, then the system can get bogged down and run like a hog.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating custom web solutions for clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't handle this properly, then the website will run slow for you. Make sure you speak with your server provider and make sure they can setup what you need, server side, to make this beast run smoothly.

    Marketing and Advertising

Way better than Wordpress!

  • November 17, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Drupal definitely has a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it is hard to look back. When I first started using Drupal with my old company, I learned how to use it and got a website launched in 5 months. There is a module for almost anything you want to do, and that is so awesome!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a definite learning curve, although not too bad. It can also be hard to figure things out. Also, Drush can be annoying as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
setting up a website that the client can take over and update themselves. If done properly, a drupal site, when finished, can turn out amazing. The client WILL be happy.

Great platform

  • November 10, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Interface, easy to use, free (can't beat that!)
What do you dislike about the product?
Upgrading security patches is a bit of a pain, and the number of available plugins is staggering. And backwards compatibility can be a bit of a challenge to deal with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Website development. Being free definitely helps with the price point, and using it with PHP has been great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you start with Drupal 8's most updated iteration, and be prepared for a lot of patches before implementation.
