Ably provides both an excellent product and customer experience

What do you like best about the product?
Ably's platform provides excellent chat, live reactions, request to speak, and user presence features that greatly contribute to the engagement and overall success of the live events we run on our platform. Moreover, the Ably contacts I've had the pleasure of working with (Ryan Landes & Matt Cillis) are highly attentive and responsive. They've demonstrated on several occasions that they prioritize the overall partnership vs. merely closing a deal.
What do you dislike about the product?
No negative feedback to provide at this time!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Based on our use case, Ably allows real-time conversations between artists and fans. This type of seamless engagement is critical to the success of our live events.

Solid platform for implementing webhooks

What do you like best about the product?
We were able to leverage Ably to build out a webhook delivery pipeline for our product in roughly 3 months. The Ably platform handles most of the complexity around reliably delivering webhook events to many consumers, allowing us to quickly deliver new value to our customers with a minimum amount of time and effort.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had a few hiccups along the way to delivering the production solution, but Ably was able to resolve everything satisfactorily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ably manages the complexities of delivering events to a large number of consumers, including handling retries, reliable delivery, scaling, and performance. It has enabled us to deliver reliable and performant solutions quickly and removed much of the ongoing maintenance burden from our team.

Fantastic Partner for Realtime Messaging

What do you like best about the product?
We have a shared Slack workspace with Ably, meaning we get live support within our usual communication channels when needed. They are very responsive and do an excellent job keeping us updated on upcoming holidays that could impact response times.
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't kept our usage up to date with Ably's feature set so I feel that we're not getting the full benefit of using the platform. There is some work we'd like to do to take full advantage of all Ably has to offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem is handling client-side connections with reasonable fallbacks. By using Ably to handle these connections, we don't need to build that expertise internally or maintain a system to manage that concern.

What do you like best about the product?
Transparent way I can manage my projects, costs and a high availability API.
In my projects I use it to deliver messages such as chat and commands for interactions and the API deliveries are always perfect and ingenious.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still can't see any downsides to Ably's services, everything actually leaves me delighted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for communication, monitoring and interactivity of users on our platform. With the high speed of delivery of Ably messages, it was possible to create an incredible experience with users.

Ably powers Sana's realtime push communication

What do you like best about the product?
Ably provides a simple API that hides the complexity of delivering scalable and reliable push-based communication to web clients. We use Ably for syncing state updates and CRDT deltas across clients and the backend. Ably offers excellent customer support and actively engages with their clients. We've had the opportunity to provide feedback and contribute to shaping upcoming features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Ably usage limits can be difficult to understand and plan around. When hitting one of the limits, the entire plan may have to be upgraded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ably solves the problem of building a realtime communication infrastructure required for delivering a realtime web application. This enables us to focus on feature development and shipping user value.

Reliable, easy to use service for realtime messaging

What do you like best about the product?
Ably allows us to have globaly distrubuted, reliable, realtime messaging for our application without developing it ourselves and managing all the points of presence around the world. Avoiding that opportunity cost is a huge benefit to us, it allows us to focus on our core mission.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our software platform is primarily is primarily B2B, Ably has a lot of B2C realtime capabilities that are not really applicable to our use case. That is not really an issue with Ably as such, overall we are happy with the service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is one of our primary mechanisms for direct client to client messaging. Ably provides low latancy messaging between users, with the added benefit of having those same messages appear in our backend.

What do you like best about the product?
Ably Platform is developer-centric and easy to start with. Documentation is detailed enough, while Ably Realtime SDK offers native support for the most popular programming languages and platforms. The best thing about Ably is the flexibility on both the publisher and the consumer side. Ably Support is responsive and helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ably Realtime has some hard limits that are not too high and could easily be hit, such as max channels per connection. Connection management is not simple, so you should be careful when designing your Ably channels naming strategy. A feature I miss and will request is to be able to optionally force consumers to subscribe with 'presence' turned on so that all consumers can easily be tracked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ably solves the problem of scalability when delivering data streams on a global level. We do not have to worry about it and can focus on delivering our core business features.

What do you like best about the product?
Here at Split, we use SSE services for sending updates of their feature flags to our customers. For almost three years, we have been using Ably for this and Realtime for checking our occupancy in the channels or getting metrics usage. During this time, both sides (Ably and Split) have had challenges regarding the amount of data sent, escalation, adding improvements, etc. I like the engagement of Ably team on these topics. You always respond fast, and you have been proactively having sessions with us on some sort of recommendations or getting feedback from our experience using Ably.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing critical to say here. Just be careful when you update your libraries and not using the major version to that as it happened in the past :P. We are good!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Ably for two main topics. The first one is for reducing our cost in our CDN because, in the past our customers only used polling for updating feature flags. Secondly, to get feature flags updates faster than polling.

What do you like best about the product?
The service is resilient. It can be used via HTTP/SSE, without depending on an SDK, which makes it an ideal choice for libraries that need this functionality. Customer support is outstanding
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing there to dislike. It would be nice to have more control over when/how channels are created/activated based on messages being published and subscriptors
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It' keeps our SDK's targeting rules up-to-date by letting them know when changes are available. This helps us reduce traffic in our servers, and minimize the time taken for a customer's application to see their changes propagated.
