Robust Software that's Intuative

  • February 28, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That in the right scenario, it can handle fairly big tasks with no supervision. The object cloning does a decent job, compared to some others. The interface is easy once you understand and learn it. It allows for a good amount of commands to be able to specific to make creating tasks a lot easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Visually each line of code becomes a little bit of a blur. Being able to see each line with more defined indents like in other coding would make it easier to view. Also some applications it doesn't like to interact with. Chrome is also still somewhat of an issue when using Automation Anywhere. Also, any of the recorders are not fantastic and shouldn't really be a selling point for it. Also having some kind of array command would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Repetative tasks that are data entry tasks that are menotenous. Also to aggregate information into one file and to push transactions within a web app.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Blue Prism doesn't like to integrate well with certain types of applications and software. Plus it is heavily dependent on visuals. Automation Anywhere seems to have better integration with other web apps and software. Don't use any of the recorders as I believe they create more issues and correcting that just utilizing the commands directly.

What do you like best about the product?
AA abstracts away a lot of detail and lets you automate business processes at a high level.
AA provides a rich set of tools out of the box to automate and integrate with many common business and enterprise applications. It also provides the tools to directly integrate third party libraries, and the company provides an online store for pre-written bot libraries.
What do you dislike about the product?
Locked down and encrypted .atmx files are incompatible with git source control.
Meaningful code comparison is not possible out of the box, and code review is manual and time-consuming, requiring additional tooling to be built.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building connections between unrelated software suites, where application-level integration is not practical. Benefits have been to automate end-to-end processes that involve structured data, and no fuzzy-decision making. This has freed up analysts to perform more value-add tasks in their day.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If using virtual machines, consider the requirement for an active RDP session for AA to be able to interact with any application.

AA Review

What do you like best about the product?
I like it's intuitiveness regarding which commands to use for which purpose.I like the metabots with the ability to easily plug in a dll which gives me the opportunity to really broaden AA's use. I do like the drag and drop feature of the commands. In v11, having the metabot designer and task designer is a great addition. The ability to take snapshots and email relatively easy is a very nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
The inability to have global variables. The inability to pass arrays as variables. Some of the text boxes are very small in regards to how much text you can see at a time. Date commands would be helpful. Sometimes accessing the repository is very slow. I would like the ability to put blocks in the code - to be able to logically organize the code. Variable passing is probably the largest inconvenience. When you go between tasks, the line that you are on does not persist. That causes loss of efficiency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to quickly adapt a process and automate financial work. We are using Automation Anywhere for repetitive tasks that are easily adaptable. We are just beginning our journey and look forward to many use cases.

Backoffice processes involving the Insurance Claim process

What do you like best about the product?
The capabilities of the Automation Anywhere software is exciting and will be revolutionary in our organization. Automation Anywhere is dedicated to supporting the customer.
What do you dislike about the product?
The on-boarding process could be improved. The support is great when you ask for it, but it would be great if they would provide us the information we need as a new customer up front.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Out pilot automations automate some Cash Application & Customer Service tasks that is saving 100-150 in hours per month, freeing up employees to work on more value added tasks. Potential reduction in temp workforce.

AA used for automating business processes

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to tie in multiple processes with built in error handling and notifications. Example: Run SQL query, export into google sheets using metabot, launch google script to format and send reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigating through some websites. Object cloning and some website integration tends to not be consistent. This is not always an issue with the software however. Some of it has to do with websites or aplications being updated without notification.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Minimizing repetitive, rules-based tasks. There are opportunities in all departments including Payroll, AP/AR, Human Resources, Compliance, Procurement etc.
