We use Rubrik for multiple purposes. One is for backups for our VMware environment, our file servers, and our Office 365 environment. Rubrik is a backup solution that also has threat hunting capabilities and live mount capabilities, where we can mount servers in real-time. It provides disaster recovery capabilities and, importantly, helps in recovery when faced with ransomware.

What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Rubrik allows us to delegate tasks to our DBAs so they can restore their own databases, and other departments can restore their VMs independently. It is easy to use compared to our previous solution and allows us to live mount systems for rapid restoration. Since switching to Rubrik, our backup times have decreased significantly, going from two and a half days to one and a half hours for certain systems. Immediately upon deployment, we saw the benefits as backup times were reduced substantially.
What needs improvement?
We're currently working with Rubrik on their Active Directory search. We need more efficient search capabilities that allow searching by last name or login ID. We have an open ticket and are collaborating with Rubrik to improve this feature.

We have been using Rubrik for over three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Rubrik has been stable, and we have not experienced any downtime. Occasionally, there are issues with the hard drives, which can happen with any system.
How are customer service and support?
Rubrik's support has been good, better than many other vendors like Microsoft, VMware, and Dell. When issues arise, we open a ticket and they work through a tunnel to log into their appliances and assist us effectively.

How was the initial setup?
Rubrik provided a 'white glove' service, where engineers came in and completed the installation. It was quick, and we were able to deploy the system in a few days.

Rubrik's team handled the initial setup for us. We did not involve third parties.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing was acceptable and provided flexibility with different types of nodes. We could mix and match to optimize costs for our needs. While some features like Office 365 backups and AD recovery required additional costs, these were necessary for our expanded use.
What other advice do I have?
According to our experience, Rubrik deserves a nine out of ten for its overall performance.

The initial setup for Rubrik is straightforward and easy. Basic installation can take about one to two weeks depending on the sizing.

We usually have two or three certified engineers involved in the implementation of Rubrik.

Using our own resources to implement Rubrik solutions is beneficial to our revenue as we take a cluster from Rubrik.

For backup solutions for Office 365 on the cloud, we also consider Veeam or Veritas. For solutions on-premises, Cohesity is another option we offer.

It defenatly has its floors when coming to releaseing new versions and patches. Some of these often seem rushed as we have had a few instances now where we have upgrades the software to find the next morning all our backups have failed, this then puts a bit of a bad taste in your mouth when having to unpick everything to get he backups up and running once again whilst giving reassurance to senior management
